Steering Wheel Options

So I'm kind of becoming obsessed with upgrading the steering wheel on my TL, I know the SH-AWD model grip is a bit better but I've stumbled across this new site in the TLX forum: https://yomatocarbonfiber.com/collec...steering-wheel

For $1,000 Canadian plus the cost of the TL grip assembly they can produce a wheel that looks like this:

Anyone ever get a custom steering wheel like this built before on this forum for a 4G TL?

I actually have been in contact with a company that can do this. They made one already and it's real carbon fiber. I'll post pictures later tonight.

Is this a direct swap or mods are needed. Looks pretty sweet. I accidentally scratched up my steering wheel and this would be a nice replacement.

Yamato is a sponsor on AZ here. 5hey post lots of pics regarding what they make and look for feedback for new products. It's cool to see some of their steps in designing a piece- pardon my non-technical jargon, but I remember seeing a TLX trunk being 3D scanned for a new spoiler design. Yamato seems as legit as it gets

While the wheel is expensive, I'm sure it's a fantastic product. He said he can make products for various cars, we would just have to send him a part to make a copy of or however he does it. I'm

Here we go. Sorry it took me awhile. The above photo is the TLX interior which we can't swap over, but like I mentioned carbonfiberelement can build custom steering wheels off of our factory wheel. Here is one they did for a fellow 4G owner, simply_solo_tl:

I did speak with them about pricing. For a more basic wheel: $600. For a full reshape like the one pictured above runs around $750-800 depending on what the customer wants. They use real carbon fiber. I like the wheel above but the reshaped grips could be a little more smooth. The owner of the wheel loves the feel and look.

Here is a picture of his interior with it installed. He also had his trim get the same carbon fiber treatment. I love the look and may pull the trigger myself. As for the steering wheel I have a different idea as I like how the factory SH wheel feels.

Hope this helps, Wreak!

Thanks for the post carbon, I realize the one I posted is a TLX but he can produce a nearly identical grip for any oem steering wheel. The one you posted is a bit too extreme for me but the workmanship looks great on it. I think the company I posted is probably cheaper to go with in the end for me because I'm Canadian and wouldn't have to deal with our low dollar and taxes/duties.

While I appreciate the CF look, and CF in general. It just doesn't seem to look that great in our car. The stock "CF" type style looks a bit better IMO. Everything's too dark w/ the real CF.

Yep, I actually agree with Blaze. Love the concept of it and actually thought about what it would look like, now that I've seen it though? Yuck.

Maybe if it was dry carbon fiber or had a matte clear it would be more attractive? It's just too much going on.

I ended up ordering a SH-AWD steering wheel from Ebay to swap in place of my base model wheel. I almost pulled the trigger on a custom wheel from carbonfiberelement until I did the math and realized it would probably end up costing me about $1300-1500 cnd funds because of how horrible the current exchange rate is.

^^ The Sh steering wheel has a really comfortable grip.

IMO I like it much more than the Custom steering posted above. I feel your pain on the exchange rate.
