Ktuner- The first tuning solution for the 4G TL
#481
I'd like to contribute a dyno run. Car was taken to Noribilt fabrication in San Antonio, TX. They deal with a lot of boosted set ups and AWD so I figured this is the place to be for my 2010 SH AWD 6 Speed. Here are the results taken from what I believe is a Mustang Dyno
Car 1st run without Tune, and 2nd run with K Tune

It could be that it needs fine tuning due to the intake its running. Also knock control is reset when you flash, so subsequent runs could reveal more power. It does appear that you're focused on the peak numbers, overlooking the huge gap on top end between the two runs *after* peak and the midrange gains that exceed the peak to peak gains.

After reading all 13 pages of this thread, I have a simple question. Is it true that the HFPC replacement provides the best bang for the buck when it comes to modifying a bone-stock 2014 TL SH-AWD? It appears from reading the thread and looking at all the dyno graphs, the J-Pipe and other mods did not provide anywhere near the improvement that just the HFPC's provide. Am I missing something?
By the way, thanks to KTuner for releasing a tuner for this platform!

Are you going to be tuning the vehicle as well? Or strictly throwing parts on? There's a whole thread dedicated to making power on the car -
https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-p...our-4g-854092/
The PCD is better than the HFPC, however if you're in an emissions state it may cause issues. It's cheaper and provides more power.

I've avoided making any mods to my vehicle because there was never a tuner that could alter the ECU. Now that the KTuner is available and has been shown to be successful with various after-market parts, it piqued my interested and that's why I posted in this thread. It would be interesting to see a conglomeration of the various Dyno charts showing, for example, HFPC adds 25+ WHP, J-Pipe by itself adds 5+ WHP, etc. But from what I gathered reading the various threads (and lurking on this forum for years), is that HFPC + KTuner offers the best bang for the buck. It seems for about $1,100 plus Dyno time I could gain 10% or more WHP.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I was trying to say is that it appears HFPC + KTuner is the best bang for the buck when modifying a stock TL. From looking at the Dyno charts from the many pages of this thread as well as other threads, it appears changing out the "restrictive" factory J-Pipe, for example, is nowhere near as beneficial as just changing the pre-cats. Does this make more sense?

The Original Shawdy
Just scheduled my dyno tune for this Saturday after 7 months of having Ktuner. Will update the thread with my results.

Quite the wait! but will be worth it. We've seen some great results on these.

Finally got Shawdy tuned last Saturday at Drift Office in Auburn, WA. Tuned by Stefan who was a pro! Still haven't fully gotten on it but I'll have some fun on Friday.
Specs: 2014 Acura TL SH 6spd Auto
CT icebox
RV6 precat deletes
XLR8 V2 Jpipe with 3rd cat delete
ATLP non resonated exhaust
Ktuner End user kit
Base run with tune 4 flashed produced 239.75hp and 215.16tq.
Custome tune flashed after squeezing out ever possibly option produced 261.56hp and 235.60tq.
A manual definitely has more potential but I am pretty happy with an increase of 20hp and 20tq. It's enough to notice the gains. Would have been nice to get a base run in to know what the car started with before all the mods and tune.

The heavier wheels definitely had a negative effect on the dyno run. I think you would of gotten at least 10 hp back with lighter wheels. It obviously makes the same hp, the engine has to work harder to put the power down to the ground. The power band is more linear which is more important than just peak hp. Edit: The AFR seems kind of high.

Good gains from custom tuning. Can't stress enough that custom tuning is the best option with any kind of intake!

Yeah I asked him about wheels but he said it would change it a little. Either way I drive on heavy wheels since all my wheels are multi piece except my stock 19's. The AFR fluctuates, that's just when I happen to snap the picture. It was also not the picture taken of my final tune. All around still impressed. Stefan told me what to do to gain more power and torque. Maybe next spring I'll shoot for that 300tq.

Engine idle noise
Does anyone's engine make louder engine idle noises after the tune? I have HFPC and jpipe and test pipe and after the tune my engine sounds louder. the best I can describe it is that it makes a soft clicking sound.

When you flash your fuel trims etc are reset. Short of running richer/leaner due to this, or other adaptations, there's nothing KTuner does specifically that would effect that.

I have a few qustions, is there a list of what the number of preprogrammed tunes are and for what mods?
I have a XLR8 V2 Jpipe with 3rd cat delete and a atlp cat back on its way. Is there a preprogrammed tune that would cover a similar set up?

There is a option base tune for the J-Pipe.
#505
Most base tunes cover multiple mods. These are indicated in the tune description.

What's the process for updating? Especailly if it's already custom tuned?
#518
Don't give me too much credit. We had a really hard time finding the limiter on these ECUs. It just so happens he asked about it about the time it was finally found!

Curious to know.... Any chance in adding adjustable 2-step, Injector Sizing, and Custom Map Sensor? Also would at least the (MT) guys have boosting options and real time tuning as well?
#520
Injector sizing can already be done via AFM.fuel and Injector battery offsets.
These ECUs are going to be very difficult to custom code anything for.
