High Output Alternator Recommendations

Has anyone upgraded their stock alternator with a high output one (e.g. 250A)? If so, which brand did you use? I've heard Mechman is a good brand, but they don't appear to manufacture one for my vehicle (2011 3.7L TL).

I haven't used one in quite some time, but Ohio Generator might be able to hook you up.

I spoke with Mechman customer service and apparently they have an alternator for the 2011 TL. Part number they gave me is 11391240 (240A). This is listed in their catalog as fitting a 2009, but I checked the OEM part number for the 2009 and 2011 Denso alternators and it is the same, so I'll assume it fits. $379 from Sonic Electronix with coupon code.

I know a friend that knows a friend's cousins sisters brother that bought a qualitypowerauto alternator for his old CL 2003 I think that is still using it for his ultra sound system car. That was 4 years ago, they moved so that all I can say. No real feedback just rumor and myth. Sorry cannot say about their quality

Mechman has one listed on their website for the 2009-2014 3.7L

Yep. That's the one. The 2011 model year isn't listed in their catalog for some reason, but that is the correct one so I've been told.

Recently updated my battery to a "35" from a "24F" and that's significantly helped w/ my "low battery" warnings. Both my previous batteries gave those warnings often due to my extra equipment (camera/ems lights). Maybe in addition to a new alternator you can look into that too.

If you were getting low battery warnings, then either your old battery was at the end of its life or your alternator is on it's way out. Regardless, I got an Optima yellow top battery when I replaced mine, which turned out being six years old.

Yeah, the battery was on it's way out. I replaced mine w/ a size 35 yellowtop too. Been running great. Hopefully it lasts past 2-3 years. My OEM lasted a year (battery management firmware issue) and the warranty replacement lasted 3 years.
