OPDS Sensor plus labor $1700!
Took my 05 TL 6 speed to the dealer and they told me the OPDS sensor needs to be changed and it will cost $1,700 to fix! Has anyone been quoted this?
OPDS is a sensor for the front passenger seat. Recently, my SRS light came on about 3 times last week, but has not been on for 3 days. So I took it to the dealer thinking it was only a seat belt buckle sensor.
Anyway, after 3 hours of waiting they tell me that it has the "hard code" 85-78 OPDS sensor and it also has a "temporary" seat belt buckle code. I think they were bull sh!ttin me because I have not seen this problem with any other TL from Aurazine, besides the seat belt buckle.
I talked to an independent shop and they told me that its not a "hard code" if the light doesn't stay on. A friend of mine that is a service manager at Toyota also told me that it isn't a hard code.
What do you guys think? Has anyone seen this problem?

I found that the unit it self only cost $169.00 msrp and about $124.00 on sale from hondapartsunlimited.com. I can't imagine that this is that hard to install as it is a part inside the seat. Does anyone have a thread on how to do this?

Dude for that price I would just install a whole new seat assembly with buckle too,it'd probably be less than half that cost. Only 4 bolts to remove the seat, should take you 10 min at most.

I had an Acura master tech fix it in minutes (it was an RL) and they also washed and vacuumed the car.
All out of warranty. And they threw in an oil change.
Total cost? $50
