Inside rearview mirror LOOSE - how to tighten??
The jigglin at higher speeds is drivin me nuts. I assumed poppin off the black plastic cover above the mirror would expose a screw to tighten, but it doesn't seem to cover much of anything. How do you tighten the mount??

I fear there's not much chance of "goodwill" with 140k miles....... any idea what the fix costs at the dealer?

TSB's are not free of charge out of warranty. Ask the dealer to goodwill it.

the link for the TSB doesn't work either--i have 129,000 miles on the clock so i don't know if the dealer will cover it...any solutions?

Yes, it is odd...after following that procedure and going back to the 3G TSB list, many if not all the ones I tried to open worked EXCEPT the mirror one, just my luck , still getting the "You are not authorized to view the content on this page.

yeah, it is started to become very annoying. mine doesn't just shake at high speeds, but just everyday city driving. i can push it back up to get it to "lock" in a bit more, but that helps for only about 5 seconds

That's odd. Didn't work for me either. Well, here you go. Try this.

Wish the first step included more details on how to remove the mirror from the windshield though, but ah well, it is a start

hey guys.... my 08 just developed the shaky mirror a few days ago... i guess i contributed to the problem bc i was cleaning the inside of my windshield. I recall bumping the mirror, just not that hard... in any event, it was shaky to the point where it was making me dizzy looking at it.
I read about the TSB, and attempted to correct the issue myself. I ran into an issue removing the rear view mirror from the glass, but was able to do so by pushing the tab towards the mirror, and then sliding the mirror off.
The difference is night and day.... my old "spring" or clip you can see where the clamps are worn

My mirror was coming loose as well, i just pushed horizontally toward the rear window and it hasn't been loose since. It has been about 3 months now. For the longest time it was loose and I would push up on it to secure it but by pushing it horizontal seem to do the fix.

Bump on this old thread...
My rear view mirror is firm and solid; if I grab it with my hand, it doesn't move.
However, when I go over bumps and whatnot, it shakes somehow and is REALLY annoying.
I'm guessing my sub contributed to this problem/caused it since I blast music lately when driving alone at night.
Will this spring issue fix the problem?

I had the same problem, but I thought when I had my windshield replaced the window people loosened it. It was not too distracting but I figured that I would just push my EZ Pass up a little more to basically hold the mirror in the upmost position. For the most part, it works. Just big bumps makes the mirror jostle. So basically I would just order the spring and reinstall? I will bring this up with Acura Service at my next visit. BTW, I have 93K on an 04. Let's hope goodwill works.

I had my windshield replaced with an aftermarket one, and rearview mirror started shaking and and got really loose after 8 months. I can snap it back into place and it'll be ok for about 5 mins. I brought my Tl to my dealership and w/o even looking at the mirror, he wanted $200 to replace the mirror even though I told him to try replacing the spring first. I left and went to the only other dealer in Las Vegas and the rep there looked at my windshield and right away said because its an aftermarket windshield , the fit isn't perfect, get some metal epoxy and put some epoxy in the metal parts that slide into the metal tabs on the windshield, and let it sit for 30 mins. Its been 2 months and no shake at all!

I just replaced the metal spring clip that holds on the rear view mirror on my 2008 TL w/ 65k miles.
Before the mirror was not falling off, but it was "jiggly," especially on the highway from vibrations of the road.
The TSB says to replace the spring but it's not needed. Just take the clip off, bend the tabs toward the middle a little bit, and reinstall. I know the clip is only a few dollars, but even when I installed the NEW clip before bending it, it didn't solve the problem.
I just wanted to document the fact that you don't need to buy a new metal spring clip to fix this problem.
Old thread but I wanted to add this information for future searchers of this issue.

Once I had my windshield replaced and my mirror would shake a lot more with the subs turned up than before. I figured it was just loose but it wasn't. The new windshield flexes much more than the OEM one. It's visible from inside the car even at moderate volumes. I knew better than to not go OEM.

Resurrecting this thread because I just bought a 2006 TL and had the same shaky mirror issue. I solved it relatively quickly last night when I was removing the HFL.
Basically, you want to remove the sun roof switch bezel piece. It can be done by sort of jamming a panel removal tool in the middle of the piece opposite the side of the windshield (between the black plastic trim and tan trim). It should pop the clip and give you access to the green clip for the sun roof switch. Just slide that bad boy right off. The other clip should just need to be pushed down and slid off as well.
There is a blue connector that is for the rear view mirror. Go ahead and disconnect that and the rear view is ready to be removed. There are two trim pieces that are on the rear view itself that you can pop off as well if you want to avoid any risk damaging them. One in front and one in back.
The rear view mirror can be pulled off by sliding it down towards the dashboard.
Before I removed mine, I was shaking it around and could tell that the clip holding it in was loose.
After removal, I looked at the tabs on the sides and thought about bending them a bit, but I decided to try and pop the rear view back on before I proceeded, to figure out how to bend them.
Turns out, I didn't need to bend the clips... The rear view basically will slide on the windshield clip and sit in two positions. The first is probably where your rear view was sitting while it was shaking and loose. Give it a good push up (towards the headliner) and it should clip back into that second position.
This SOLVED my issue. If the rear view is still loose, try bending the clip on the two sides in a little bit with some needle nose pliers until it doesn't feel loose when fully clipped in.
Hope this helps someone down the line.

Vise fix
I used a vise and a micrometer.
I place a parallel or thin metal over spring side to get dimensions before using the vise.
I moved spring .01 and it locks on nice now again.
I placed it in a vise and barely squeezed it but that's all it needed to fix.
Hope that helps any with proper tools.
You probably can use a set of plyers and do each ear of the spring too. In my case one ear was longer than the other.
This happened after a new windshield was replaced.
Good luck.
