Foggy head lamps, need to be cleaned or new light covers put in

Hi Group,

My 05 TL has the typically problem with the front head lamps where it looks foggy and grey on the inside of the light. What do you do to make it look good as new again? Replace them or just clean them out?

I'm sure there is are threads to this common question and if so can you please link me to them.

Thanks!

Many TL headlights "fog over," but the problem is on the outside of the lens, not on the inside.

I used a buffer and Meguiar's Plastic X to polish the exterior of the headlight lenses on my TL and an Odyssey.
You can likely get the same results with various plastic cleaners, headlight restoration kits or toothpaste and a polisher or drill-operated pad. This is less abrasive than wet-sanding and also faster.

So you are saying this is on the outside of the headlamp not the inside?

Before going out and buying the head light restore, use some spray wax and a cotton towel and buff the wax in. Spray and buff a few times and it should be clear again. That's if it's not that bad. I saw my buddy do that with an older car he has and it looked good after.

Used Meguiars Headlight Restoration Kit and came out perfect.

I'd contact JnC.

does anyone know what the problem with mine?? Looks like 1000s of little tiny scratches deep in the plastic. You can only notice them when the hids are on and they only seem to be where the hid bulb is???? From the front it looks good from the side view horrible!!!

Anything i can do to fix this???

PlastX is $8/bottle, toothpaste is cheaper.
Some headlight restoration kits come with a ball/pad you can mount on a drill to polish the headlights more quickly than hand-polishing (which will take forever, given the shape of your TL lenses).

You should also put on a protectant layer after polishing, per the thread that Bearcat linked.

Headlights just need to be refinished, inside and outside, some UV protectant clear will finish off the resurfacing.

Here is an example. You can get in touch with me via txt (Five Zero EIght) Three Six Zero - EIght three two zero

Here is another example, I did this set of Jeep headlights for a local customer.
