WDP Type S Progress Thread..better late than never!!

I haven't seen any pictures with Type-S guys going side skirt only but I've compared the shape many times and it's pretty much spot on with the stock ones except a bit more chiseled looking. I think it would give a nice look on your vehicle with your new wheels and with the way your car is lowered.

The only mesh wheel I can think of in a 18x9.5 +35 size that will clear is the Enkei Raijin, and that's only according to Enkei reps. No one has taken the wheel and actually tested it.
As a rule man, if you have a BBK, any BBK, you will need to either run aggressive offset wheels or stockies

I guess I'm just not understanding these dimensions correctly.....stocks are 17x8 +45..correct? how can a wider and taller wheel at 18x9.5 with the same +45 offset not clear it ?

As a general rule of thumb, the clearance issues come from spoke design - Especially with concave wheels, where deeper spoke angles can easily interfere with big brakes.

no go on the aspec kit. i think it looks GREAT on every color EXCEPT wdp. the color mismatch is horrific 9 times out of 10 especially since my car is now 8 years old and doesn't have the original shade. if i ever have to get my car bumpers repainted i'll do it then but only then. plus i don't have the money for that trying to save for a house in expensive ass san diego
But I'll grant you from pics I've seen around here - it seems to be a bigger issue with the type s front lip since it's a much bigger front piece than the base lip and therefore more for the eye to see. Your car looks great regardless...so we're splitting hairs. And saving for a house trumps all...you're definitely making the right call there!

Can't say I entirely disagree with you. Mine matches pretty damn good though for an '04 and I just got the kit 2 years ago. I'm as OCD as it comes and I don't notice it at all...especially not with all the other imperfections of an aging car But it's by far been the best upgrade I've made on the car.

Not the best shots with it being sunset....but you get the idea. Is it 100% perfect? No...but close enough for my tastes anyways.

Wow darktower, yours looks really good. I've been contemplating if i were to go a-spec to go for the 04-06 front lip on my TL-S. Seen one in my area with the base front lip & it looks pretty good.

i've done a lot of stuff to my car recently and still want to go back and post all that i've done but here's my latest addition...aspec kit with a base front lip!
i went back and forth every day between the base front lip and the type s front lip. the type s front is more aggressive but i think the base flows much better with the rest of the kit. plus with the high potential mismatch of WDP, i wanted to have as least lip as possible for the mismatch. i contacted a few people on IG with the base lip mod on their type s and had a pretty good game plan, so i went with the base aspec front! only downside is i did the entire install myself since my brother fell asleep haha
got the kit from my local acura hook up for a great deal...he gives me employee pricing on all acura parts since i buy from him so much
the white is off compared to my 8 year old bumper but it looks much better in person and i'm very happy with my decision, it gives the car a much more aggressive look and makes things fresh again. just wish i got the kit when i bought my type s new in 2008!
installed rear and sides first (no front aspec):
did many test fits to get everything just right:
lots of super strong 3M tape in the area that is known to bulge out.
was up til 330am on a work night because i installed it myself (not recommended):
sides came out flush and don't bulge at all, i'm very happy with this result. i also dremeled the area where the fogs slant up, very minor cutting there.
the camera makes the wdp mismatch seem much worse than it is in real life

thanks man haha those late nights suck. my car is my daily so it's either get my shit together and knock it out, or start over the next day. so i figured i'd rather be tired at work designing medical devices than have to take my bumper off again

the type s front has really grown on me lately, but honestly there is such a mismatch with wdp that i didn't want it to stick out really bad. right now it's just enough to look aggressive yet doesn't draw attention in a bad way. if i had any other color car, i would have gone type s front for sure!

Looks dope. If your brembos matched the orange in the headlights though...

thanks! that was the other color i thought of going with, the only reason i went teal (satin lagoon) is because it matched my project mu lugs really well. if i ever painted those lug caps i would consider switching it up to orange like you mentioned...

Dang...I even looked at the lugs to see color, didn't see any, so I made that post. Lo

It looks like I'm not gonna go for the kit as of yet. With the way the Canadian dollar is sitting it's not worth to spend almost $1000 on it. Rather tackle a couple other things with that kind of money. If the dollar regains strength I'll definitely consider it seeing how well it panned out for you, especially the fitment of the base lip

just some minor updates here, nothing too crazy, but there are some teasers at the end...
when i had my bumper off for the aspec kit install, i trimmed up the cowl that blocks air from reaching the CAI as it enters. these pics are after cutting it away (just to the right of the fog light)
cleaned my aem filter and put the dry flow wrap back on
my xlr8 motor mount inserts were getting torn up (thread here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...n-fail-942060/) and after coming across gerzand on IG decided to buy his custom mount inserts.
went from 60 series to 75a and this time put in all three mounts (previously just had front and side xlr8 mounts). there is much more surface to distribute the load and if these mounts are good enough for gerzand's beast car they are good enough for mine haha (yellow is gerzand). definitely lots of vibration since i added the rear back on but i'll survive...minimal vibration difference between 60 series and 75a
decided to remove my ingalls rear camber kit and replace it with oem arms, and then add the spc camber arm kit. my ingalls bushings weren't that bad but the car feels a lot more stable! i also put in all new oem hardware when i put in the used arms
teaser 1...first TL to have this shift knob (expensive as hell but so so worth it), i'll be putting up a separate review thread on it soon
teaser 2...did my first ever audio project last year but never posted about it, i'll put a separate thread for that as well, nothing major just a small system
and lastly, just a picture of another gorgeous day in so cal!
