just an fyi, I ran oem clutch with aasco flywheel on my accord with no issues, even with having a j36. also, moderator fsttyms1, built a j37 and used the oem clutch with aasco flywheel and has had no issues so far and he is over 10k miles on the setup. it drove very nicely with no issues

Ive been putting in a looooooot of hours at work... I wish there was someone in my area for me to test drive and see how this feels... I am really iffy on this. Its almost like with coilovers, everyone raves how they love the stiffer ride from their coils while i absolutely hate it.. I want the exact same or close to OEM feel lmao. I want the daily commute to feel the exact same if not close to the same as the OEM feels now. I dont mind if the revs drop faster thats fine. I do care however the feel of the clutch i am really afraid of making this move. Might be one of those things i gotta just drive. Drove my friends type S with upgraded p2r disk and while its cool i still like mines a lil bit more
This clutch is what you are looking for. If you like your current clutch feel, this is better. I am in stop in and go traffic daily and this setup is super easy in it. Clutch feel is actually easier than stock surprisingly. It still kind of blows my mind when I get in my car and push the clutch in to start it...its just so easy. I drive it kinda hard and test it daily to verify it is holding the power and it never fails to grab every time. Best clutch I have ever owned. I've had higher stage clutches in my previous car so I can definitely compare and relate. If my next car's clutch goes out, it would be a no brainer to buy this clutch for it.

That link I posted previously is for the Type S. You would want one of these options for your base TL:

You will only need to get the Pilot Bearing separate, our kit comes with a Throw Out Bearing. It also doesn't include the rear main seal plate, or misc. fluids.

Quick update...
Roughly 8k miles on it and still very happy with this setup. Fantastic package focused on a daily driver. Still easy to drive in a regular commute of stop and go (up hill at times) traffic. Grabs every time with no issues especially when I decide to run through the gears just to listen to the s/c whine. This setup is still going strong.

Another update:
Clutch/flywheel setup is still going strong. Have had a few people drive my car since my last update and the response is the same...shocked at how easy the clutch is compared to stock. Once they got used to it they really liked it.
Also I may or may not have been challenged from time to time during my daily commutes and the clutch grabs all gears no problem. No matter how much the supercharger gives it hell, that clutch takes it and is always ready to grab again. Just grab and go. Then as I pull into my neighborhood it feels like a stock clutch, easy going and forgiving.
For me this clutch has performed double duty and continues to impress me with its ease of daily driveability. For those on the fence, the purchase has been well worth it over a stock clutch to me. Great combo here.

We're glad to hear the clutch kit is still going strong for you. It's definitely an awesome combination of performance torque rating with stock like feel. We've also started shipping our kits with the both the pilot bearing and throw out bearing.

i recently bought an xlr8 clutch kit identical to yours for my 6 speed accord. in the clutch literature it does not mention facing of the clutch disc. the flywheel literature states the sprung hub should face the flywheel, however with the torque ring and flywheel bolts in place there is interference. did you in fact install the clutch disc with the sprung hub facing the flywheel, or the pressure plate. if facing the pressure plate there is no interference with the pedal down to the floor? thanks in advance

by the way, i was a bit disappointed to see the clutch marketed as south bend clutch, and received and exedy disc. i seriously hope im wrong but i feel south bend is far superior to exedy. it is disappointing to see how few clutch choices are available for these cars. if i had a choice (for performance as well as extremely affordable) i would have an ACT disc and pressure plate and a fidanza flywheel. however the days of iffy engagement and (hopefully) clutch fade due to the god awful self adjusting pressure plate and dual mass are behind me and i am extremely thankful for that.

I installed the daily driver package in my j36 accord and have been running it for aprox 6k miles. i have been to the dyno and done multiple wot pulls. i can say this setup is GREAT!. it feels the way honda should have made the car to begin with. factory pedal feel with a good firm grab when you want it. bonus is you get the aasco flywheel which has an infinity replaceable friction surface so if you want to sell it down the road you could get close to new pricing for it. it offsets the cost of the kit which was just over $1000 for me after tax.

I hope you got everything installed and playing nice, please don't hesitate to ask if you have anymore questions!

How has the clutch been treating you so far out of curiosity? Hoping the great drive-ability countered that bit of disappointment

Introduction and background:
I am a car enthusiast and know general information about cars but am not nearly as familiar with clutches so my apologies if my terminology may not be clear. I try to be thorough in my review but feel free to ask questions if additional detail is needed.
I bought my car with 76k on the clutch. I had no problems with it until I started down the path of power adders. At 186k my stock clutch was still working fine but with the amount of power I was putting down, third gear was starting to slip under medium throttle. This started my search for a new clutch and thus came across this setup.
Here is the link to the XLR8 clutch kit
Installation:
Not much to say here other than its a straight forward clutch install. In comparing this setup with stock, there is a noticeable difference in weight. It's amazing how heavy the stock setup is. I would make the following recommendations to be either mentioned as must haves in preparation of installing this setup or added to the package.
Recommended additions to be included with this clutch setup:
Honda pilot bearing (part #91006PGE008)
Release Bearing
Clutch alignment tool (I had to buy a Honda clutch kit, use the tool, then return it)
Lube
The Review:
Post install- The clutch surprisingly feels stock-like if not easier as far as pedal pressure is concerned. My biggest fear in purchasing an upgraded clutch was the additional pedal effort needed. During my commute there is usually traffic involved and I didn't want to sacrifice the additional clamping power for increased pedal pressure. I am extremely impressed with how easy it is to push the pedal down with this setup. Engagement is smooth and feels more refined. The engagement window feels small and is at the top of my pedal which actually helps in knowing exactly where that catch point is. With the stock clutch this at times seemed difficult to find. Not the case with this new setup. Engagement is predictable. Revs are also quicker thus making for easier rev matching. Driving is so easy with this setup that If I didn't know any better I would have thought the clutch was stock.
Post 500 mile break-in- I'm starting to notice little things now. The clutch seems to grab better now that it has been broken in. The window for the engagement point is larger now much like the stock clutch. It also has a tad more bite. I can put the clutch in gear and while slowly releasing the clutch, with out applying gas, the clutch will still pull the car forward just like stock. I thought the clutch and lightened flywheel combination might make this more difficult for some reason but it is unchanged. There is no chatter or additional noise of which I had both exist with my stock clutch. With the stock clutch I would experience chatter especially on cold days. I also had a noise that sounded more like a squeak every time I pushed the clutch pedal in. It's a relief to no longer have either in this new setup.
In driving it more aggressively the clutch does a great job of grabbing at any rpm and any gear. I performed several third gear pulls, the gear which would slip on my stock clutch, with no issues or any signs of slipping. It feels strong and capable of handling the power. Acceleration feels smoother and quicker especially in the first few gears. The car is definitely more fun to drive and rev match.
Recommendation/Conclusion:
This setup has impressed me from day 1. I have had a couple others who have driven it as well who were also impressed when I mentioned it was an aftermarket upgraded clutch setup. I would recommend this clutch to anyone looking for the benefits of a stronger clutch and lightened flywheel with stock-like pedal feel.
