If I were to recommend anything, I would recommend the AEM Cold Air intake. They come in a selection of colors, include installation instructions, stickers, a license plate frame, and a lifetime warranty. Price depends on color but they are about $265 and can be found here: AEM Cold Air Intake - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist
If you were looking for something that's easy to install you could get something like the HPS short ram intake. These don't sit in the wheel well/fender wall which means less moving parts for installation and easier access. Since they do sit in the engine bay they are more susceptible to heat soak. They are a bit cheaper then the AEM intake, costing about $190. Here is the link to our site in case you wanted to have a look: HPS Intake - Shortram - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist
If you want an even easier option, a K&N drop in filter utilizes the factory air box which many people seem to think is fine, and it still offers an increase in air flow. We also have these on our site here: http://hoa.excelerateperformance.com/kn-/kn-dropin-highflow-air-filter/332299/i-134645.aspx
Hope this helps!

The DC Sport CAI has been fine for me and it's priced right (~$125 shipped). Pep Boys had a couple of sales on it. There's a thread somewhere here on it.

Any aftermarket intake should add Top End (3-5hp) Power but will reduce your torque at low end RPM (not to a point where it's noticeable).

I have had the AEM V2 for a little over a yr and from stock I did notice a difference in terms of better pick up acceleration through the power band. I just switched the filter from AEM to the WeaponR Secret Weapon filter. Designed with a velocity stack built in. If you end up doing an exhaust an intake is important.

By far, hands down, by 10:1 against all others combined, the AEM V2 intake is Heeltoe's most popular intake for the 3rd gen TL.
Ironically, it isn't even technically a TL part. It is an Accord one. But it fits the TL perfectly, and even the instructions are accurate for a TL.
Does popularity make it the best? Well, not specifically. But is looks great because it is a cool color and is all one piece. The larger "v2" chamber style makes it look beefy. And the sound is awesome. Clean and throaty without being noisy like an Injen is.
Check out the AEM V2 intake. Heeltoe recommended!

Also another great quality product that is the Takeda Attack Cold Air. The materials and construction on Takedas are awesome, and while their power claims can seem a little generous I know they have their own in-house dyno to test, as I imagine K&N probably does as well.

Sorry for the noob question(s) but wanted to add to this thread.
1) Does anyone know how much HP the stock intake is good up to? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see the benefit of upgrading unless the plan is to exceed those numbers.
2) Does an intake require a tune to not throw codes and perform optimally?

2. No tune require.
Intake upgrade wont benefit unless you port your throttle body, intake manifold, and runners.

aem v2 hands down if you want to bring the J35 butterfly valve intake manifold to become alive. it's the best sounding engineered system in class. + aem v2 unique pipe design makes it pop
I had aem v2 on my accord v6 and friends LOVED the sound. they could hear me coming. (no exhaust, header bolt-ons had been applied)

08 TL type-S
I finally got my 3rd gen TL-S tuned, and when they were doing the pulls for tuning, they opened up the airbox and ran it like I had an aftermarket free flowing intake. It made a gain of 6 hp. I think the Oem set up is good, and 5-6 hp for $200.00 or more is not worth it. My tune with flashpro gained 20 hp and about 30 lbs torque. It was well worth getting the tune, but I will stick with the stock intake. I do have a J-pipe and two high flow cats, with all 3 oem cats deleted so I am sorry to the environmentalists, I pollute the environment with my TL-S.
