So here is the temperature results of driving with the full intake system wrapped. Outside air temp was 84, humidity was 54. Total drive time was about 30 minutes give or take. Everything was done on highway unless otherwise specified. From top to bottom it goes like this -

1.) Immediately after random 70-90 driving and WOT pulls (did two, one to 120 and one to 90)
2.) 5 minute semi cool down drive (average speed of 80)
3.) Coming off highway after cool down sitting in stop and go traffic for 3 minutes with AC on 75% power

It surely hasn't gotten any worse. No way. If anything it's better. I'm leaving it wrapped.

what about wrapping the precats and exhaust? Wouldn't that be the biggest heat source? keep the heat in there and out of the engine bay in the first place.

What material are you using? I was going to wrap my headers this summer if I had time and monitor IAT, but haven't had time yet.

You need to add some hood vents and/or drill holes in the cowl to help reduce that heat.

just remove it...
might as well since you're more about function than form anyway and that way you can put it back if need be.

i would remove it completely but it causes problems with the wipers when they are being used without the cowl in place

How much you spent on full bolt ons, you would have probably supercharged it for just a little bit more.

hope you didnt start!

I would do the hood vents instead of the cowl!
hood vents LOOK cool, especially a heavily modded car....and it serves its function, letting out all the hot air!!

pick up some M3 hood vents, or some MB AMG vents, or even the Jaguar "supercharged" vents

I personally would go MB hood vents. instead of them going down the hood like M3 vents, they go across the hood parallel to the cowl.

Manny Fresh's TL.
No wonder it wasn't seaworthy, y'all put holes in it!

I'd just remove the cowl and call it a day. You're all about that bass (and et's) no treble (form) anyway...that's not that crazy for a drag queen.

Cant remove cowl entirely. Causes problems with wiper blade movement/seating when idle. Will just cut cowl and also install the hood vents when I'm not broke

Well I hit a milestone in the heatsoak experiment. Made some minor changes to the setup, including a full wrap of my IAT sensor since that's the main thing that needed to be cooler/removing the middle layer of wrap from the intake mani and now after almost an hour of mixed driving (4 full throttle pulls, light stop and go traffic, AC used on and off for a total of 10 minutes), air temp going into engine was less than a 10 degree variant of what the outside was. Outside air was 77, inlet slightly heated air was 84. And I damn sure felt the difference. Car was hauling ass like no other today. Also on a side note I forgot my coolant overflow bottle cap was cracked and leaking out hot coolant vapor into the engine bay. Between all the new stuff I did, I made more than a 10 degree cooler improvement even after heavy driving.

Throttle response is lightning quick now and when I pop the hood, my intake manifold no longer feels hot to the touch at all, it's now on the higher end of warm but not quite hot but way cooler than it was. I think the main things that helped this time were the full IAT wrap and fixing my coolant overflow bottle cap which I recommend everyone fix theirs if they need to. This is the performance I wanted out of the car. On another side note I had a 2015 Benz E350 Coupe playing with me on the highway. We were not racing per say just taking turns chasing each other and I kept tailing him the whole way. He couldn't keep up when I mashed it when I was in front though. Nothing wrong with a little playtime here and there. This car runs amazing for 162k on the original trans and motor. I'll never buy anything but Honda/Acura.

You should wrap your "headers" and your exhaust system. Add some stiffer mounts too. Lighter battery and loose the battery tie down adds too much weight.

Dealer sells the cap for about $1-2, but you would need to buy the plastic tubing too. If you try to take it off; it will snap.

Anyways, why use painters tape Grab some high temp clear/black silicone as it is much more effective.
