Math equation for picking out air filter

1.Square inches of filter required for a motor = CID x Maximum RPM / 20839

2.CFM required for a 4 stroke motor = CID x Maximum RPM / 3456

3.CFM required for a 2 stroke motor = CID x Maximum RPM / 1728

4.CFM required for a turbocharged or supercharged motor = Pounds of Boost / 14.7

Add 1.0 to this answer. This relates to #2 and #3

Example: (CID x maximum RPM x #4 ) / 3456 or 1728

5.To find circumference of a circle multiply diameter by 3.1416

6. To find diameter of a circle multiply circumference by .31831

CFM Formulas for Filters

Round: Diameter x Height x 6 x 3.14
Flat Panel: Length x Width x 6
Universal Round Taper: (Base + Top) / 2 = A
Take A x Length x 6 x 3.14
Universal Round Straight: Diameter x Length x 6 x 3.14

Oil cooler, air oil separator and catch can. Don't know if I will do a catch can with the new engine since that was there more for the excessive blow by.

I forgot, are you doing this on a stock motor? You should plan on running e85 on this beast regardless of boost pressure. And also, the heat greatly affects the engines resistance (or there of) to knock. I generally don't suggest low temp thermostats but if it's tuned for using FP, I'd definitely consider it. It's a known fact that the monoport heads were designed to pull heat from the exhaust to keep the EGT's down which means it's then absorbed and transferred to the coolant. Higher temps come along with increased power which will put a tremendous stress on the cooling system. Low temp thermostat and a lower closed loop threshold will keep detonation at bay. Combine this with the e85 and you will see reliability that nobody else has seen yet...I assure you.

We still need to do the intercooler, oil return line, figure out how to mount the damn wastegate and dump tube, maybe move the radaiator hose so that it does not touch the waste gate and melt, wire tuck everything so that the turbo doesn't NOM NON NOM shit up, and then.... then do the down pipe and then actually bolt it up. Yeah I hate life right now.

I think I am just going to keep going. I have access to a lift for the time being and my fabricator/mechanic is try to help me out the best he can. So yeah I am glad I did not do it alone. I would be crying. Tons of new parts being fabs that I have not posted pics yet.

I can only run 93 oct. WV hates e85 rolling coal no love for that corn. So yeah I am kinda in a bind right now... Either push forward leave the car with the mechanic and have him complete it while I go on vacation again. lol Everything I can't fix shit I go on vacation.

Major setback today...
The down pipe will not work on my car. It is hitting everything, heater core hose, engine harness, transmission counter weights, and basically everything in that corner... The only thing we got done was the intercooler piping, the intercooler is now mounted, and w.e we got done yesterday So turbo mounted with all feeds going in and out, wastegate, dump tube, and a few other things. But can't really do anything since without the down pipe everything is going to fry

I also missed my window to cancel the appointment with Innovative-motorworks. So I will probably lose my 100 deposit . Hopefully, Derek is willing to work something out with me, but I won't get my hopes up.

Took a few hours to machine this little thing to adapt to my turbo and weld on to the intercooler.

Left the car at my mechanic/fabricator Tuesday night. Had to take a rental home back to where since I have work Thursday and Friday and am leaving the country sunday. He should be getting the material in today and have it done by the end of this weekend. I will be in China for 3 weeks.

Sooo the bill racked up pretty fast. Was shooting for 3k at the beginning of the build and it looks like it is going to be around 5k. So yeah cheap + turbo doesn't work out too well.

Labor bill so far was 600. But that down pipe might be 300-500, and I lost 100 deposit at the dyno tuner for now showing up weds. So yeah do not attempt unless u have a spare car and deep pockets because anything that can go wrong will go wrong

Don't feel bad, my bill for labor will be $5,000 for the current engine rebuild. Another $3,000 -$4,000 in parts for the rebuild. I have had a lot of bad luck with having installs done while I'm on vacation. Shit goes wrong, extra money needs to be spent and it messes up your vacation. I was in Italy last month during my build and told the shop not to call me just figure it out. Last 3 times I have been in Mexico was during work of some sort on the car and issue after issue comes up that cost money and delay the finish date.
It is nice to have it done when you get home but that never happens. Every build I have ever done or been a part of goes south at some point near the end that's what's hard to budget for. My car is all done on the dyno geting tuned and the fuel pump died, tuner busy for next two weeks. The build has been pretty smooth so I expected a bump in the road like a failed fuel pump and cracked tranny housing

Damn Jack that is nuts. Yeah I am hoping to get it done since it is just the down pipe and then it needs a tune.
