Cat back Exhaust vs Stage 3

I know this question has been answered before but I didn't see an answer that fit my example. So I was looking into getting a stage 3 exhaust and have been searching videos and forums of the customer satisfaction and I was set. Spoke with a reputable member in the TL community and he said stage 3 sounds like shit and I should go with ATLP catback. Its very pricey I know but from experience, is it even worth it to pay extra hundreds of dollars ? Is stage 3 that bad?

Obviously a catback exhaust will sound better. You're $800 bucks from finding the answer to your question

Lots of R&D go into the cat back designs and in my opinion sound way better than the stage mods. I would and did pay more money for a catback while others want just some change in sound and are ok with stage mods. Up to each person and what it's worth

I was very happy with how the Tanabe Medallion catback sounded in my 05.

Even changing one part of a cat back will make a sound change. Whether or not that change is a huge one depends on your subjective opinion. I would say, yes, there is a huge difference between a tuned and refined cat back such as the one from ATLP from a pieced together alteration of the factory system.

I went with Stage 2, and added pre-cat deletes and the V3 J-pipe. I ended up putting the mid-muffler back on because it sounded like a go cart just cruising around.
