Adding distance lines to backup camera

I have an 07 TL with navi and was wondering if its possibly to get distance lines using the navtool with the stock backup camera?

The distance lines is something incorporated into the camera.
Without replacing the OEM camera, you can't have lines.

Only way you'll be adding distance lines with the stock camera is by drawing some lines on your Navi screen :P

That's for your help. I guess I can't change the camera either?

you can, but there won't be any oem replacement plug and play options. If you REALLY want the lines, best way is to get an aftermarket camera with the lines, and pair it with one of the aftermarket video bypass modules(I think tvnav2go would work). Basically, it'd be a lot of work and money just for 2 lines on a screen

Yup but you'll have to switch into the navtool to use the grid lines. Not really convenient as it won't automatically do it when in reverse. Becomes a hassle to switch unless you go right into navtool when you start up the car? Even so you have to switch inputs from hdmi to back up camera toggle. But if you want to do it it's the green wire from navtool harness into the backup cameras power wire.

As long as the bumper that's visible in the camera isn't touching anything that's fine with me

I think you may be able to do this with the stock camera and only have to get the video bypass. It would require you to get access to the RCA video wire and the trigger wire currently running to the stock camera. There's a decent thread about it on here.

How would one go about this if it could work?

what if you added the lines to the camera lens? I wonder if there's some sort of clear decal with the lines that would go over the lens. Like one of those cling stickers that some people put on their windows. Anyone seen something like this? I would love to have the distance lines on my backup cam!
