Can you give more details? Such as what receiver / system you bought, what kind of modifications were necessary, cost, etc? My navi isn't working correctly and this looks like a good alternative!

It looks good but what happened to your 2 aluminum strips? They look pretty severely damaged. The only criticism I have is the area where the knobs would normally be and the redundancy of 2 Navi screens- I guess it would look better if one was Navi and the other radio controls.

The more I see double DIN units in the 3g, the more ugly it looks to me.
I haven't put any research or time into looking, but there has to be a way to get a new double DIN unit where the factory navi unit is.

I feel like I really need to get on doing my tablet/double din install and provide a good writeup, here's some info on the double din install, there's a lot more info I plan to share (it's available through some searching of the forum and I'm feeling lazy ATM). But here's a good start. What I can say is the only thing you will truly lose is Acura's HFL, but I think I have a way around that.

And IMO, it can look good with some work, this would look a lot better if his center stack wasn't wood grain.

All the threads I've seen are non navi based systems which are easier. That's why I'm interested in the OPs path. My navi is useless right now as well as my CD player (but that's not as big of a deal since I have xm)
Ideally I would want to put in a double din navi in the stock radio area and just leave my stock navi screen on the xm audio page

I'm not saying what you're asking is impossible, but a lot more trouble than it'd be worth, the stock HU controls the Navi screen to display the XM. An aftermarket unit would control your XM, but getting it to display the XM screen on your Navi would be a huge PITA.
You'd be better served replacing the Nav screen with an aftermarket slave screen to your afermarket HU. And IMO, you'd be better off installing a tablet for Nav purposes (there's some tablet installs into Nav out there) and then having your HU control your XM, CD's, etc. etc.

Thanks for your thoughts I agree it would be a huge pain haha. I looked at some good nexus 7 tablet installs but didn't see anything that allowed the stock rear camera to display on the screen. I know it's possible just a lot of work in unknown territory
I'll prob just pay the 360 to get my navi fixed and live with the old graphics haha. Always interesting to see what others have done on here!

Planning on doing the same upgrade and don't want to buy the wrong size. How much was the kit?

I am also looking in this setup. i have a 07 TL-S and i want to keep the factory nav on and working (i understand i will lose like voice prompts and commands but i dont want the nav screen to be just black).
What wiring do i have to do specifically to get the nav screen to stay on after i remove the factory head unit and put in my double din? is it a pain in the butt or fairly straightforward?
Pretty much looking at where i can find that information because that is what is keeping me from pulling the trigger on this. Thanks!
