Spare Tire Size on Tech/Advance 14+

So we just purchased our MDX & after reading some of the paperwork, we don't have a spare... which sucks
Albeit a lease, i dont feel comfy with an infant driving without a spare, i was able to find the rim/jack kit cheap but can't for the life of me find the tire size!

I even was looking online for window stickers lol

If someone can help me out its appreciated!

Thanks

The dinky tire that comes with the spare kit is an oddball size. You have only 2 options that I've seen:

1. Buy the OEM tire, PN 42751-BRI-098 ($330!!!)
2. Buy a Kumho tire in 165/90R17 (~$90)

Option 2 is slightly larger than the 165/80 OEM part, but for temporary use it should suffice.

I was all set to go with that option, but ended up getting a free spare kit (with OEM tire) as a "peace offering" after a very extended service visit that involved some damage to my MDX.

I'm assuming continental got wise to the dealer hosing people and now have a 144 tire

Thanks for that!
Was very confused that Acura has 2 part numbers for the spare kits for base and tech/advanced (doesn't include tire)
So i'm assuming the spare was 18/19" respectively.

If its 17" regardless i'll do what you said above and just order the kumho, i saw the price of the "OEM tire" and honestly i'd rather buy another 19" oem off ebay w/ tire already on it lol

Interesting, I didn't realize there were two part numbers. My info came from a thread over on MDXers.org:

Finally, a Spare Tire - Acura MDX Forum : Acura MDX SUV Forums

The poster had a Tech, which has the 19" wheels, so you should be good to go.

Spare tire kit on ebay $67 shipped
Kumho tire $100 shipped
& had the kit and tire installed and mounted for $25

$200 for piece of mind vs $600 at dealer, not happy i had to spend ANYTHING but didnt want to risk it

That's odd, my 2015 MDX Tech cam with the full sized spare. I looked at me paper work and did not pay extra for it. I guess after purchasing 4 Acura's from my dealer they included it free.

08W44-TZ5-200B / wheel, towing spare 19X8 full size $384.80
42151-CTL-013/ Tire 245/55R19 (continental) $198.82
06421-TZ5-A10 / temporary kit 52.64
For a total of 636.26 OEM price without any mark ups.
Are the Three kits that was ordered to install the full size spare into my New MDX, which I put into the final price of the car.

Also the car has the full size spare with the small compressor with gel (which come with all new cars) so I can change out two tire at once. I hope and pray I will never find out.
