I just bought a new Nexus 6 P that I really like but when I paired it with my 2015 Acura MDX all incoming calls are badly garbled. This did not happen with my old Samsung S5 so the problem must be with the phone, maybe the os 7.0. Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't think it's 7.0 because my Pixel was on 7.0.1 and now 7.1.1 and doesn't have the issue. Sounds like the 6P is the problem.
