I don't necessarily miss the visible dual tailpipes. Seems like in my area 9 out of 10 MDXs of Gen 1 and 2 have very black and discolored tail pipe tips. Not really eye appealing.

I would have liked the Gen 3 have dual exhaust. Would probably brought HP closer to or at 300.

My 2013 RDX that I traded for the new MDX had dual exhaust. Although it had less HP, butt dyno said it was more spirited. JMHO.

The past MDX looked horrible from the rear because you see the whole damn suspension down there...and unlike a muscular body-on-frame SUV, those darn thin spindles (halfshafts) look pathetic. I come from off-roading SUVs...so, those earlier MDX was an eye sore for me.

I much rather see it covered up. Sure, you can integrate the exhaust into the rear bumper (like Lexus LS among others), but after a while the chrome openings become black if not taken care of. No thanks.

BTW, i think that having a TRUE dual exhaust from header to tailpipe costs a lot of money (and space) and provides mostly HIGH RPM power. I doubt that your 2013 RDX had true dual exhaust. Dual exhaust means NOTHING unless it is a true dual exhaust from engine bank to the rear. I do NOT believe that any Acura products (except NSX maybe) ever had TRUE dual exhaust system.

Now, you can increase the diameter of exhaust piping but that will give you 1-2 horses (max) at high RPM and may NEGATIVELY affect torque.

Basically, your butt dyno feels that way bc MDX is much bigger car...and remember, MDX 3rd gen has MORE TORQUE than any prior MDX/RDX at low RPMs. So, this goes against your butt dyno.

I think that 3rd gen MDX outperforms RDX handily according to Motor Trend....

I ended my post with JMHO.

NO, the 2013 RDX did not have true dual exhaust.

0 to 60 or whatever, RDX was better. Maybe I had an exceptional RDX.

I don't know or care how MT tested the two vehicles. Not asking you to agree,or disagree. Again JMHO.

I understand, but you have to understand the basics...having two exhaust at the tail does NOT mean anything...a lot of what i wrote above is to inform you of your mis-information regarding the matter. And no, adding another exhaust hole won't bring it to 300 HP. And IF Acura did install a dual exhaust (true), then whatever extra little horses that you get will be useless in a big SUV! Power down low is what you need, not power at redline.

As for acceleration, yeah, you need data. Butt dyno is about as useful as poop-flavored lollipop. Perception is very tricky. Thus, you need data to back up what you perceive. That's my point.

One more post, so you can have the last word here on this. Oh, and thanks for all the useful information.

Zippercat, I use the felt lined small container under the pop up cover on the center console ahead of the gear shift (beside the lighter/ power outlet). I think that's a coin holder. I guess you're looking for a coin holder that has vertical slots like in some of the older cars. I use that one since the coins don't jiggle and make sounds because of the soft material.
