MDX with Advance Running Boards....Splash Guards or not??
Hi all. Very happy to be rejoining the Acura family after a several year hiatus. I will do a more formal re-introduction along with photos soon....but I will be taking delivery of a 2016 MDX Tech this week.
We are definitely getting the Advdnce Boards added, but I cannot seem to decide on the splash guards. I do live in NEPA, so if they're actually effective, they could serve a purpose other than aesthetic.
Can anyone chime in on their worth, practically speaking or otherwise?
Thanks so much....and I'm happy to be back!!

Take a good hard look at the Advance Running Boards before buying. I found them to be very annoying when getting out of the MDX. They are placed below the body of the car and really get in the way more than being useful. They really are placed badly.
Ask your dealer if there are any MDX's on the lot with them on an see for yourself. The sport running boards are much better. They don't get in the way. Look better IMO. They are more useful and work much better for people getting out of the third row as the are placed right where they should be... even with the body of the MDX not below.

Splash guards are a nice add on. They're not too expensive either.
As MyT6MT mentioned above, the advanced boards can be a hassle for more than it's worth. On rainy or snowy days, your pants get caught getting into your car and dirties/wets them.
Unless you really need to step on the boards to get on, I'd opt for the sports running board instead. I have splash guards and sports running boards on my MDX and they look great.

You're not kidding. The sport boards look fantastic on your car, which is virtually identical to my car. Might have to look into the Sport boards. Do you mind posting a rear shot of the car? I am curious to see how the splash guards look from the back. Thanks.
