Height Adjustable Tailgate?

I looked through the manual and did not see any instruction, nor any wording denying, the ability to set a height limit for the power tailgate.

I know both the new Highlander and Merc M-Class have this feature. Am I missing something?

Unfortunately MDX doesn't have this feature.

It's funny the things you expect to be there but aren't. I'm sure that'll get fixed in a few years for the refresh.

Yikes, I missed that. After test driving so many other SUVs that had that feature, I incorrectly assumed it was on the MDX. I pick up my Advance from the detailers on Friday (3M wrap, tint, black vinyl wrap the beak and Opti Coat Pro)

I'm hoping the tailgate will clear the garage door.

How about back your MDX into the garage ? Then opening the tailgate will always clear the garage door.

Why don't you just open the tailgate manually instead of letting the motor open it? That way you can open it slowly until it rests against the garage door (if it reaches it). To open manually, press and hold the tailgate open button (above the license plate) for at least 3 seconds or until you hear a long beep. Then you can just open the tailgate manually... I did that and opened slowly and lifted the tailgate until it just rested against the garage door... never had a problem even with the MDX inside the garage.

Good idea, but I think my ceiling mounted bike racks may make that non-viable.

No worries - I'm sure it will be fine. Worse case I'll open the tailgate manually. It was a miss on my part not to confirm the option existed on the MDX, but it would not have influenced my purchase.
