Arrow Trims

Not really a review but did not want to start a new thread. A poster on another board has reported these details on packages:
MDX
Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold
Auto High Beam headlights
SiriusXM Radio® 2.0
4 2.5-amp USB charging ports
Acura Watch

TECH & TECH ENT (Features in addition to those on MDX)
Bi-Directional Keyless Remote Engine Start
20-inch wheel and tire
Power folding side mirrors
HD Traffic

ADVANCE (Features in addition to those on TECH)
LED fog lights
Unique Advance 20” wheel design
Genuine Olive Ash Burl or Black Limba wood interior trim depending on
interior color
Heated steering wheel
Surround-View Camera System with 6 selectable viewing angles
2 2nd-row captain’s chairs
Center console with 2 additional USB ports

ADVANCE ENTERTAINMENT (Features in addition to those on ADVANCE)
3-person 2nd-row seating in place of captain’s chairs and
center console on ADVANCE
The Forest Mist (green) color is discontinued and replaced by Black Copper Pearl (brown that is currently on TLX model) and the Graphite Luster is replaced by Modern Steel Metallic (slightly lighter gray color).

Have they announced any price point on the Sport Hybrid MDX?

The BMW X5 hybrid is around $75K nicely appointed. It has a 4 cylinder turbo charged ICE with EV rated at 308 HP, but no torque vectoring

I'm annoyed that they'd force people to the captain chairs with the Advance model.

Those with 2nd row captain chairs. Does it mean it can only seat 2 persons in the 2nd row ?

I would think that you could easily work a swap with someone that doesn't spring for the Advance yet would love to have the second row captain seats.

Yep, there's no ability to seat 3 in that row with captains.

Basically if you want the features of Advance, and want to seat 3 in the 2nd row, you'd have to get the Advance / Entertainment model. Seems stupid.

May be this is one of the major reason why Acura will never be as successful as those recognized true luxury European automakers, such as BMW and MB, who will let buyers custom pick options/accessories on almost all vehicle model trim levels.

About swapping captains chairs for the bench... Chances are that would be a no go. Even if the attachment points line up, the carpet is probably cut differently because of the console and possibly other small changes that make it less viable/appealing. A similar retrofit topic came up with the Ford Explorer and it turned out that the carpet was cut differently and when the console between the captains chairs was removed there was a gaping hole. Creative types could and did come up with solutions but none were factory slick.

Uninstall the center armrest console, and unbolt all 3 rows of seats inside the vehicle, then rip out the carpeting.

Order and install the OEM interior carpeting that is designed for the 2nd row bench trim.

Finally, reinstall the console and bolt all seats back into the car.

The carpet is around $450-500. Would require you to remove all seats, center consoles, and the side bottom trim pieces. Have done it in a Subaru before, not an Acura, but like most vehicles the process is similar and took about 3 hours going slowly.

This labor work is similar to aftermarket audio upgrade, with which new heavy-duty speaker wires are to be routed under the carpet to all four (five, if subwoofer installed) corners of the vehicle.

No Apple CarPlay and no Wifi for a vehicle at this price point would be a deal breaker for me.

The manufacturers are really backing out of Carplay and Android Auto efforts now. I think it has to do with the profit sharing of the data mining.

Personally, I prefer a car that will allow wifi tehering from a phone (like Tesla does for the maps) over in vehicle wifi.

i don't see manufacturer's backing out at all.

X5M and X6M for 2017 will get updated Touchscreen Nav Screen (from new 7 series and integrate Apple Car Play).

I'm enjoying the WiFi in the XC90, it's about 330kb/s d/l and 220kb/s u/l - great for streaming netflix in the back seat

I agree on CP & AAuto. I have it in my Denali pickup and don't see much downside for a car co. Maybe some fear of losing control but once buyers get the experience they will demand it. For me, I won't buy another vehicle without it. And it will continue to get better as they mature.

2017 MDX showcases next evolution of the Acura Precision Concept-inspired new Acura Diamond Pentagon grille and exterior styling
Most premium and technologically advanced MDX in history now available with 20-inch wheels, 2nd row captain's chairs, HD traffic, SiriusXM Radio® 2.0, heated steering wheel and Surround View Camera
Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) variant launching later this year
MDX is America's best-selling 3-row luxury SUV of all time
The restyled and refreshed 2017 Acura MDX, the best-selling 3-row luxury SUV of all time, goes on sale tomorrow at Acura dealerships nationwide with a starting MSRP of $43,950. The 2017 Acura MDX raises its game with bold new exterior styling, larger wheel and tire options and an expanded complement of premium features and technologies, including the AcuraWatch™ suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, now offered as standard equipment on all 2017 MDX models, a 1st in the luxury SUV segment.

Featuring refreshed exterior styling inspired by the Acura Precision Concept, the 2017 MDX is highlighted by the new face of Acura, the bold and distinctive Diamond Pentagon grille. Integrated with a more sculpted hood, front fascia, front fenders and revised Jewel Eye™ headlights, the result is a more "executive athletic" appearance for Acura's class-leading luxury SUV. Additional styling updates include new chrome rocker panel trim, a revised rear bumper and skid garnish, and the return of visible dual exhausts with bright finishers.

"We're raising the Acura MDX's game for 2017 with premium new features and technologies that luxury SUV buyers want, complemented by bold, new styling we know they're going to love," said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager, Acura Division. "Backed by its high-performance credentials, the 2017 MDX has advanced its competitiveness and will continue its legacy of leadership as the best-selling 3-row luxury SUV in America."

Premium Content

All 2017 MDX models benefit from increased standard luxury and technology features, including an Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold, Auto High Beam headlights, SiriusXM Radio 2.0, 4 2.5-amp USB charging ports and capless fuel filler. Technology and Advance packages add Bi-Directional Keyless Remote Engine Start, 2 new 20-inch wheel and tire options, power folding side mirrors, and HD Traffic.

In addition, Advance grades add LED fog lights, genuine Olive Ash Burl or Black Limba wood interior trim, a heated steering wheel and Surround-View Camera System with 6 selectable viewing angles. Advance models can also be equipped with 2 2nd-row captain's chairs and a center console with 2 additional USB ports for 3rd-row passengers. An ultra-widescreen Rear Entertainment System is also available on models with the Advance ENT Package.

Safety

All 2017 Acura MDX models come equipped with the AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM). All models also come equipped with a multi-angle rearview camera, and upper grades add blind spot information (BSI), front and rear parking sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor and new Auto High Beam.

Combining AcuraWatch with Acura's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, the 2017 MDX delivers intelligent safety and confident driving performance at the top of the competitive segment and targets top safety ratings; a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has already been achieved, and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is anticipated.

Powertrain

The 2017 MDX leads its class with its combination of refined and responsive power and outstanding fuel efficiency. The 3.5-liter direct-injected i-VTEC® 24-valve V-6 engine is rated at 290 peak horsepower and 267 lb.-ft. peak torque. The 2017 MDX with front-wheel drive and Idle Stop has an EPA fuel economy rating of 20 mpg city/27 highway/23 combined, and MDX with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) and Idle Stop is EPA rated at 19 mpg city/26 highway/22 combined. The MDX also meets the stringent EPA Tier 3/Bin 125 and CARB LEVIII ULEV-125 emissions standards.

An available Sport Hybrid Super Handling-All Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) powertrain variant will be available later in the year, making MDX the 3rd model in Acura's lineup to utilize its revolutionary 3 -motor Sport Hybrid powertrain with electric torque vectoring.

Thanks, good to know it'll go on sale tomorrow.

It looks like the Advance model will have a regular 3-seat second row?

Trailer hitch

May be too early to ask but would any of you guys know if the trailer hitch from a 14' MDX fit on the 17'? I just got my hitch replaced and its literally brand new. I only use it for a bike rack twice a year so dont need the harness and larger cooler. Thnx

It's a bit hard to say until the install manuals get issued to cross check part numbers. My guess is that the hitch itself will probably work BUT the cover portion will be different.

Acura listed the accessories for the 2017 MDX:
https://estore.honda.com/acura/acces...&modelName=MDX

Here are some observations:
Front AND rear parking sensors. I wish they offered this on the 2014-2016.
"High wall" all-season floor mats. I'm guessing that these are in response to Weathertech's floormats.
Door edge guards. These are the traditional body colored plastic pieces.
Front AND rear illuminated door sill trims. I'm pretty sure these would fit on the 2014-2016s.
There doesn't appear to be a sport front or rear trim anymore.
The running boards have a more integrated appearance compared to the 2014-2016 Advance running board. Acura must have been reading our posts.

Lots of stuff to transplant to older 3Gs!

We had front and rear sensors on the 3G mdx since 2014 here in Canada.

I'm not sure if Markpaco is talking about as an add on if you don't get advance package? If so then ok, if not my 2016 Advance in Ohio has front and rear sensors. Most everything on that list is actually available on 2014-2016 models.

I know, not sure who they have in mind for Advance. With 5 people in the car you'd have to compromise the cargo room severely. I recently purchased a 2016 Advance instead.

Anyone see the 17' in person yet? I went yesterday. Black/black advanced. The front Acura emblem is huge. Almost too big. 20" wheels look nice. Surround camera works well also. Captains chairs great feature as well.
