2016 MDX Tech SH-AWD with new 20" wheels

Santa delivered some new shoes for our 2016 MDX Tech SH-AWD. Apologies for the subpar pics; I took them quickly on my phone post a late afternoon wash.

Considering I went up just 1" from the stock Tech wheels, there's not much to report regarding a change in ride quality other than it definitely corners better with the 255 width tire.

255-50-20 Toyo Proxes
20 x 10" TSW Rivage
40mm offset

My wife wanted black rims that sat flush with the fender. I insisted the wheels must have a concave face and have silver accents to define the wheel. So we decided on the Rivage with a 10" width with 40mm offset and in my opinion, it sits perfectly. I'll see if I get some better pics to show the side view.

I thought I'd add a shot of our trusty 1st Gen.

Can I give you a triple thumbs up? Those wheels look amazing! So much like the ford edge sport wheels, but only nicer!

Thank you. Funny you mention the Edge wheels, I've always liked the look of the Edge Sport 22s (all styles) and looked for a set for our 1st Gen MDX. But I decided to stick with the MRR HR-2s that we've had for about 9 years now (man time flies).

I appreciate the triple thumbs up because we bought our 2016 MDX in August and literally daily I've been looking at wheels. I'm very picky, especially considering my wife requested black wheels (she hauls around our 2 boys, so she drives it most) and I'm not a fan of most 5 lug aftermarket black wheels. Most of the desirable designs are for the 6 lug full size trucks/SUVs.

But we found the gloss black/silver TSW Rivage and was sold It really compliments the White Diamond Pearl exterior.

I love the edge sports 22's, especially the newer edge with the silver and black wheels. You are exactly like me, I am EXTREMELY picky with wheels. Search up cayenne turbo 2 wheels. I think you would love them.

By the way, as I was looking at your MDX on the computer, my brother walked behind me and then came up to me and was like "whats that? is that an MDX?, that is SO nice!" and he doesn't even like SUV's.

So I guess that makes it

A few of you requested pics of the rear. These were taken from the original session and when I have some time, I'll take a new set of pictures.

I purposely enhanced the brightness so you can see the tire better in the dark pic. I took the rear photo (2) because I wanted to see what it looked like sitting at a light.

The whole "tire sticking out" topic is a subjective one - we like a "little" bit of tire to extend out. I personally think the 2014+ MDX is a little too feminine of a design, so adding a strong wheel/tire combo helps add some masculinity.

I am still very much approving. I also agree, it is skewed a little bit too much towards feminine and is begging for an aggressive wheel and tire package. This helps.

I personally don't like any poke, but I will accept a little poke vs any sort of inset. I like flush wheels.

OP you have a great looking MDX and those wheels really do add a masculine stance to the overall nice design of the MDX.

I plan to get the 19in. Accessory wheels for my X. Probably in the alloy finish rather than the chrome. I had 17in. OEM Chrome-like wheels for my TL and they were a chore to keep clean. At least with alloy finish that won't have so many fine scratches.

I'm too afraid to do aftermarket since I don't know much about tires/wheel depths, spacer or whatever else is needed to be considered. And I like OEM stock look, my previous 2 Acuras were stock, but the 3G MDX accessory wheels suck! So aftermarkets in dark gray finish or two tone would be a must.

My wife and also want black wheels for our white MDX, but I have yet to see a wheel style that would look nice. Kudos on the wheels, but not my cup of tea. I like the wheels on your older MDX though.

Looks great! Love the wheel poke. I wouldn't add anymore than that though.

I like them better than the black TSWs, but MRR doesn't offer the HR-2s in black and I didn't want to go the powdercoat route

Thought I'd add a shot of the side for reference...

The wider track definitely looks much better.

Hoping the 2017 MDX comes out with optional factory 20"s

When Acura does step up to 20s, IMO they'll still be around a 45 - 55mm offset.

I read somewhere (I can't find the article) that manufacturers keep the wheels tucked inside the wheel well to avoid/lessen wheel curbing. This is especially true for leased cars as they want to minimize lease-end cars returning with curb rashed rims. Obviously there is a level of rash where they charge, but replacing wheels is more of a hassle that they'd rather avoid as much as possible.

That being said, for those of us that do have a more aggressive offset, I already told my wife to never park near a curb...

Finally found someone I can talk to. Just got my MDX and wanted to see 20x10s on it. Do you know if all the 20x10 40+ will fit the same. Will a 265/45 also fit, or stick with the same tire set up you have. Thanks!
