2014 MDX Engine Surging Issue
Good afternoon,
My apologies if this particular issue has been discussed before, but I'd like to get the community's feedback on this prior to taking my '14 MDX to the dealership.
I've noticed in the past couple of months a surging from the vehicle primarily under acceleration. All of the vehicle's drivers (me, my wife, and another family member) have noticed it. It seems like there are ~100 rpm surges every second or two while under acceleration, and the problem seems to be getting more exacerbated with time. Not only can you feel this behavior, you can also look at the tachometer and see it quickly move up and down. Again I see this primarily happening under acceleration (to slow speeds, to fast speeds, that doesn't matter). I have also seen it on cruise control a couple of times, but I believe I was going uphill so more engine power had been commanded by the computer.
Has anybody else experienced this issue? Further, has anybody had it correctly diagnosed and repaired at the dealership? Is there a known TSB that deals with this? I keep reading articles about how dealerships can't replicate problems, etc., and it seems to have to do with corporate telling the dealerships not to fix certain issues. Man I hope I'm wrong about that last statement however!
Thanks for any information that you can give!

I experienced the exact same thing with my 14 MDX just recently. I had around 36000 mi on it. brought it to the dealership for them to check it out, and guess what? I am sure you guys all know what they said ( can't duplicate the problem ). I will mount a phone in my car facing the tachometer to record the evidence to prove to the service manager that I am not BS-ing him. .. I am totally disappointed with my purchased of this MDX, So many problems. Acura post those TSBs I almost experience them all. I am basically just stuck. so far they replaced the sterling gear box and both of my key fobs ( range issue with remote start) . don't know what will be happen next. (may be trade-in)!! I will keep update this post if they can fix the problem.

Go to dealer and ask them to diagnose a "judder" under TSB 16-044 http://www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SB/B16-044.PDF and change out that transmission fluid.
So so we will be scheduling a service from our local Acura dealership. We didn't purchase from them, but rather a Honda dealership so it is not Certified. Luckily the power train warranty covers this to 80,000 miles.
