2014 Acura MDX Fog Lights

I Have been waiting for Fog Lights since June (It was Part of my deal when I purchased the Car)
and my dealership said that they don't have a release day yet. The Funny thing is that there are number of sites that already sell them on line.
ACURA MDX 2014 FOG LIGHTS (LED) GENUINE OEM PART#08V31-TZ5-200 : Amazon.com : Automotive ACURA MDX 2014 FOG LIGHTS (LED) GENUINE OEM PART#08V31-TZ5-200 : Amazon.com : Automotive

When I ordered the MDX 2 weeks ago, my dealer even called the Honda Canada head office to find out why. They have the price for the LED fog lights, but the delivery date is still TBA.

I guess we won't know for awhile but I am curious if this is diy install or need extensive new wiring and splicing? Was hoping that harness and switch already exists.

The install instructions are already available. While there is no wire splicing, the install is fairly labor intensive.

You have to take off the entire bumper. Also you will need to take apart the steering column to remove and replace the existing light switch stalk to the one that has the Fog light switch as well

BAD news about the fogs!
Will NOT be available until end of August now , not July 31st anymore as was previously estimated !
Is complicated to install , will need to remove the bumper to do it! Pay the dealer , it's better.

Here are the Accessories that I have on my 2014 MDX Advance White I did the Installations my self:
- Sport Bumper Trim - Front (I had to remove from Bumper)
- Trailer hitch with Harness
- Rear Bumper Protector
- Crossbars
- All 4 splash Guards
- Cargo Tray - Living Hinge
- All Season Floor Mats
-Running Boards - Sport Step

I Purchased all of these Accessories at 25% below MSRP and by installing them My self.
Installation is Very Simple and It saves you ton on Money
http://estore.honda.com/acura/access...&modelName=MDX
The Installation instructions are very up from and Simple for DO IT YOURSELF.

So if you look at the installation of Fog lights they are simple
and to remove the Bumper is no big deal.
The Best Part is that you don't have to cut into any wires. Just Plug it in.

They do look better than the "blanks" that are in the area otherwise. My dealer informed me they only received two sets if fog lights and they were already "owed" to other people but that they hope to receive more soon.

If the fog lamp breakers, would you have to buy a new kit? They are low enough that there is a good possibility they could break from a stone thrown up by the car in front of you.

All fog light have that chance. When you look at the diagram they have separate #'s so I think you can order them separately.

Depends if the lens is glass or plastic. Many TSX owners with the original glass lens had they break including me. But this was common enough that a plastic lens housing was available and I replaced the two glass ones with plastic. No problem since.

You could probably buy one of those clear lens protectors. They are like clear bras but thicker.

Tap on the lens and see if it is glass or plastic.

I was going to install the fog light myself until the I read the 17 pages of instructions. I called my dealer and got an installed price of $438 for the LED Fogs. What is everybody else paying for the fogs installed?

Sounded like a major task to DIY the LED foglights.

Eh, many Honda (rarely Acura) DIY foglights are. But at least the firewall pass-through is already wired.

Agree.

The most difficult part of most installations is to thread wiring through firewall and door jambs, without any drilling.

Anyone crawl around under the front bumper to see if the filler panels can be removed without removing the bumper? It seems a lot of the hardware to be removed per the instructions may be optional equipment. If this can be done from underneath, the install will be much easier.

Is $438 for only installation and labor?

What I have noticed is that the Jewel Headlights Produce Such a strong and Bright Light beam that it overpowers the Fog Lights and you cannot see Much output from the Fogs. The only reason that I got the Fog Lights was for the Looks.

When the pics came out there was a lot of opinion about the 3G not having any fog lights. We all now know why even though it was suggested at the time.

I agree that the MDX looks better with something in that space but useless, expensive LED fog lights are superfluous with Jeweleyes.

Don't worry. You'll appreciate the foglights when the fog comes.

The main purpose of foglights is to throw light beam under the low-lying fog, and, as a result, able to illuminate the road and markings right in front and the sides of the car.

The headlights are sitting too far up the car, and thus any light beam (no matter how strong and bright) will simply get reflected and bounced back by the layer of fog.
