2014 to 2017 MDX

So I have an opportunity to turn in my 14 MDX 3 month early if I choose to go back with another Acura. So I opted for a Black 2017 Tech MDX. The new MDX is much smoother than the previous model.
Since I had it less that a week, I did some changes on it.

So here is some pictures with tint. I used it Nano Carbon 18% front driver and passenger side. 30% rear side and rear windshield over the privacy glass. 70% front windshield ant 5% sun roof.

I also matte black all the chrome window trims and did some 4D Carbon Fiber trims on the back tail gate handle, exhaust trim and the interior gear selector. As far as the other chrome trim goes, such as the door handle, side lower panel, front grille, front lower and rear lower trims I will try wrapping with some black chrome vinyl in the near future.

I brought a K&N Drop In replacement air filter from here http://stores.ebay.com/2b-element?_rdc=1

Also as an added bonus at the tint place, I was told since I will be posting my pic on the forum, they will offer 10% discount on nano carbon or ceramic film if any local customer are interested for window tint.
Here is there Yelp review! https://www.yelp.com/biz/2b-tint-baldwin-park-2

Thanks for your PM man. Another question, do you have to remove all those wraps when lease ends?

Yes I do need to remove them all. It's a half day process as I did that on my 2014 MDX too.

Man oh man, that's awesome!! I also feel like there is too much chrome. Did you do the carbon fiber yourself. Can you give some info, I'm interested in doing this also.

Thanks

Yes I did it myself. Its fairly simple to do. Just buy a roll of CF vinyl on Ebay. Look for regular Matte CF or 4D or 5D CF vinyl.
Then just use a hair dryer or heat gun, xacto knife, plastic card, towel and spray water. I'm planning on doing black chrome on those area that you see that are wrapped yet.
There should be a youtube video to teach you how to do simple wrap.

Have fun!

Did you use K&N filter on your 14 model too? just wondering what your experienced has been with this filter, i am been debating if i should or not, some other members were concerned about oil getting inside. Thank you.

new MDX looks great raymond!! i really like all the added touches of the wraps and covering up the chrome around the windows turned out amazing!

i'd like to wrap some stuff on our mdx...what is the spray water for? i thought most of the vinyl wraps come as adhesives and don't recommend water. i've tried to wrap a few pieces in my TL with horrible results, maybe i'm doing something wrong (i didn't use water at all). i wish i had your wrapping skills!

No. The new 2017 MDX uses a new part number as the air box on the new MDX is slightly smaller. I don't know why they change the air box.
Here is the part number: K&N Drop In Replacment Air Filter Fit For 2016 - 2017 ACURA MDX 3.5L V6 NEW ITEM | eBay
I have started using K&N on my 2014 MDX and have no complain or concern on oil getting inside. It did bump up about 1-2 mpg while I had my 2014 MDX.
As for the 2017 MDX, I haven't felt anything yet as I am still breaking in the car as I only have 54 miles on it.

Hey Dave
Thanks for the compliment. I meant to say Spray Water Bottle. Certain vinyl needs water to clear out any air bubbles and some vinyls are Air Release where it eliminate air bubbles without adding water.
Car wrap vinyls do not uses water. Some regular vinyls does need water.
Also it is good to have some proper tools like heat gun, squeegee, plastic card, and xacto knife with lots of good blade.
And patience....needs lots of patience to have good outcome on your end product!

Modding my rear reflector with LED Strip. Opening up the reflector using heat gun and run the wires inside.

Got it. Not worried about them being "too bright" and mimicking tail lights?
Damn cool idea. I'm trying so hard not to cut up my new vehicle, although I am adding a reverse light here in the week or so.

Its not as bright as I thought as these strips are directional. So when I stick it, the LED will shine out side way. I think for me to pop out the reflector is to just jack up the car. I did not pop it out yet as I brought a spare reflector at the dealer which is about $8 each

That emblem needs to be reduced. Its not even proportionate to the grille size.

It looks a lot better than I thought it would look. I would take an inch off in all dimensions, but I don't hate the logo as much as I thought.
