Help/ Advice for 09 TSX MT Oil Consumption
Hey guys I need your help. I know there are many posts about this issue but where I need your help is ways to get the dealer to honor their warranty. Here is the background info:
My 09 TSX MT has gone through an oil consumption test with my local Acura Dealer and they have confirmed that the pistons do need to be replaced. Acura Canada also sent out a letter stating that they have extended the engine warranty to 8 years, 200,000 km and my car falls under that warranty (2009 with 113,000 kms). So all is dandy right? Wrong, since I bought my car used there are no records of oil changes done through Acura and I've done my own oil changes since I bought the car, so Acura is declining this repair because there are no records of proper oil maintenance.
Has anyone experienced this and try to fight it? If you did, what did you say because I've argued and gave them an essay and they did not let up.

Must not have had the oil changed at shops that are reported then. What about contacting previous owner(s)?

I'm sure the OP kept immaculate records for the oil changes he did himself. That documentation (the listing of dates, what was done and receipts for supplies and fluids) along the TSB should be enough to sway Acura in your direction - unless you can't show that the car had any oil changes at all or Acura knows something about your car that you aren't sharing (original oil filter rusted in place and sludge instead of oil - or something like that)

If the lawyers cant fix it- I'd recommend running a synthetic 5w40 oil. My 1st gen 2006 140k mi and 2nd gen 2009 168k mi dont burn this at all. Castrol edge and valvoline synpower have been good for me.
