Tint %
What tint % do you guys have? I am getting my windows tinted soon, and I originally wanted to go dark (15-20) but I don't know now. I am thinking about keeping it a little bit lighter. Any suggestions?

25%-35% is pretty common. I have 35% all around and am really happy with it. Check your state's tint laws though.

this is prob the most important factor if you have law enforcement that actually checks for tint %.....with that being said i had 5% on my last 2 vehicles and the TSX with 35%, im going to ride out the winter with the 35% but come may 2013 i will be removing and going with 5%/

NY's tint % is 70 which is barely anything. Me and pyro are running 35 on the windows and 20 on the rear windshield. killerg grew a pussy and got 50. (although from some of his pics it looks darker) my friend is running 20% all over and he's been pulled over twice already. imo i think 30-35 is sort of a perfect medium. dark enough that you can only see silhouettes and light enough to not have the popo on your case everywhere.

It really depends on your goal. If you are looking at heat/UV rejection, then a nice 60 or 70% ceramic tint will work just fine and give superior results to cheaper, darker tint.
If your goal is to look cool, then get what you want but don't come back here complaining about tickets or not being able to see at night.
Speaking of being able to see, do this - buy a cheap pair of sunglasses in the tint you want then drive with them night and day, rain or shine. If you ever feel that you need to take them off (backing into a slot at a parking garage for example) then it is too dark.
Me? I'll be doing a nice 60% Huper Optik. Nice and cool and no visibility issues and no problems with the law.

I think interior color plays a huge roll in tint. If you have ebony you can get a lighter tint and still look dark (30-35%) but if you have parchment it will take a much darker tint (15-20%) to get the same effect if you we're to have black interior. Your safety is also very important because it will be much harder to see at night like ceb said (5% is no beuno at night!). They actually do make tinted sunglasses (they're those cheap red and blu 3D glasses from back in the days) and your installer might have them.

I've got 35% all around wish I did 20% for the back window(s). I have CBP with beige interior. You can see right through with the interior which is why I wish I tinted it darker. Still very happy with it though!

I got my windows tinted last month. 35% all around. Looks great except the rear window at night. headlights are now blurred between the defrosting lines in the rear window. Does anyone else have this problem or is a problem with the tint? I know I may not be explaining it best, maybe I'll take a pic (but it's hard to take a pic of the rear at night while driving).

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
^ holy shit how do you see at night? probably gonna get booked for the windshield tint
I'm running FormulaOne Pinnacle 30% all around. Don't like the "staggered"-tint look, and 30% looks pretty decent on a white car imo.

i have no idea what mine are, but they are dark, but i'm actually fine with it. have had cops pass by me and nothing yet so far

I did 20 percent all around. Had it for a year so far and only been pulled over once, the cop just wanted a reason to search my car. You can still see inside the car. Not like 5 percent. But off your worried about the cops. 35 percent is the way to go.

I think the insurance company could argue you modified the car illegally and created a situation of impaired visibility.

I have 17% all around. I have to roll my window down to see well enough to backup late at night, but other than that I don't think it's a problem ever.

I have 20% all around except the windshield. I have had the car for 5 months and no problems with cops, including cops being behind me in traffic, etc. I don't have a bad driving record, my mods are not obnoxious (LED light interior and LED license place which if anything allows cops to better see my tag), and I drive cautiously.
My trick in the day time at least is if I see a cop nearby I pull my sunroof visor back letting light in which helps a little bit. Not to say it does anything but more light means more visibility inside. I absolutely love dark tints as it keeps the cabin cool.
Keep in mind, I live in NJ. I believe 35% is the law. I have talked to numerous cop friends about it and they say most of the time there will be no issue given the fact I have a clean driving record. I have friends who had 20% on their cars for years and no problem. Again it varies by state, if I decide to take a road trip I may be in for a problem in a state that isn't so tint friendly.
I have saw one TSX at the dealership during maintenance that had 5% all around, including the windshield. Now that I assume is a sure fire way to attract attention from the cops.
Yes, I am taking a risk with my tints, and find it absolutely ridiculous that cops can have dark tints on their personal cars while the general public runs the risk of getting ticketed. I more so have a problem with the "quota meeting revenue generating" petty tickets cops write while more serious crimes occur in certain parts of any town. Well see in 5 years which is about the length I plan to keep the car to see if I run into any trouble haha.

For quality tints, darkness (VLT) is not necessarily a measure of heat and UV rejection.
For example, Huper Optik makes a 70 percent tint that has better heat and UV rejection than many other 35-50 percent tints.
