RV6 questions

Hey guys! I'm new to the forum, new to Acura/Honda, and new to moding cars. I've read this whole thread and wondered why it stopped...?

I have a 2011 TSX I4 MT and am looking into buying the RV6 PCD + test pipe. I've read the whole thread and pretty well understand everything about its performance, sound, CEL, etc.

With that said, I still have a few questions:

1) I don't remember much talked about the Skunk2 downpipe. Can anyone compare/contrast RV6 vs Skunk2?

2) Where can I find a discounted Flashpro?

3) I'm considering adding the Magnaflow 14829 mufflers after watching this video:
Anyone done the RV6 PCD with Magnaflow mufflers?

4) Is anyone still out there?

Also wondering about the progress of this muffler?

Are you still making a CAT back exhaust?

1. Skunk2 no support made overseas quality hit or miss. Awkward bends due to reusing civic si casting.
Interesting drive to work this morning.......Skunk2 Downpipe.

2. I am a Hondata and KTuner dealer shoot me a PM we can work out a price.

3. Is that with stock precat and secondary cat?

4. Im here keeping very busy. Our custom mufflers arrived.

1) Yeah...i dont want that happening to me.

2) Will shoot the PM.

3) The youtube video is over 2 years old. Multiple people asked about the exhaust but the poster never answered the question. So, unfortunately no one knows

4) Glad to hear you and the company are doing well. I'm looking forward to the video/audio of your mufflers! Are you guys still working on the CAT back exhaust?

The last I heard (last week), they are in the process of moving to a larger shop. I've been trying to get some dyno time with them, but their dyno is packed up and needs to be re-setup once the move is done.

As in high flow cat built into the precat which then flows into the OEM primary cat? It probably could be done since there's plenty of room where the original precat sat. I would probably get in contact with RV6 if they could do a custom one. They're pretty open about custom stuff. I think they have a version for export to cut down on shipping size. Since Boki is from Austrailia, the export version might not work because of the cut down size so he would have to get the full size which would be more expensive to ship.

Yeah definitely doable. They have HFPCs for other vehicles already, so it won't be hard for them to do.

HEAT SHIELD RATTLE ISSUE?!?!

Hey, i was going to make a new thread but here goes.

I had this problem for a little bit but finally got a month long vacation - i'm a consultant with no project, currently.

Is anyone else's heatshield around the downpipe rattling like crazy? i feel like the resonance from the lack of a downpipe is causing it to buzz. i could make a video. it makes the car sound so cheap it kills me. or is the heatshield at all?

You have the RV6 PCD and you think resonance from the exhaust+pipe is causing the heat shield to rattle? Is this the same heat shield that's covering the oil filter? Would be good to upload a vid.

Try tightening the heat shield a bit? I don't think I have this issue. Just an annoying rasp between 3-3.5k RPM on maybe 30% throttle pedal in 2nd/3rd gear.

What is your current exhaust setup? None of the heat shields should be re installed on the downpipe.

Yeah Dave if you were referring to the precat heat shield, that's not supposed to be reinstalled.

@Richie, I noticed the double res mid pipe prototype on IG for the 9G Accord. Will the CU2 guys get any of this goodness?

I know you said you just got the materials for the CU2 catback. But, I for one would be really interested in a catback that would also remove the rasp created from the PCD. Does the design of your CU2 catback account for the PCD rasp? Definitely don't wanna get a nicely made RV6 catback and hack it up just to install my own resonator.

no heatshields were reinstalled, but im thinking what you said earlier about the new resonance is vibrating the heatshield that's attached to the car. it makes the car sound so cheap, i hate it.

i almost want to take it to someone with a lift and figure this one out cuz i already crawled underneath and nothing is loose.

Can any of the OG's chime in who paired the RV6 PCD to a catback ...

I'm itching to dump more money into my car. Currently have the Tsudo SP2 with no name aftermarket 18" resonator installed over Tsudo's 12". My concerns are:
- Tsudo SP2 will not be able to contain the RV6 rasp.
- RV6 will take the Tsudo noise level back to teenager loud. How much louder should I expect by adding the PCD? The exhaust set up needs to pass the wife & 6 mo old son test.

User pminy on the other forum has the Tsudo paired to the S2 Alpha down pipe, and the sound isn't too pleasing for my ears, but there's ton's of wind noise, and I have a different resonator, if that'll make any difference.

Thoughts?

I would say you'll get similar results as pminy. Both downpipes eliminate the CAT which does a lot to dampen the rasp.

Thread revival,
Wondering if anyone here can settle something for me.
Definately getting a RV6 pcd, the question is to keep the stock second cat or buy the high flow cat in the second cat position. I dont want full race car loud so obviously test pipe is out of the question.
Wondering if Ill see any gains from having that high flow cat and how much more sound it will make.
Buying endless rpm catback so an entirely new exhaust would be nice ya know but it is under the car so who cares right?

I thinking about ,buy a RV6 downpipe and high flow cat and weld one magnaflow high flow cat in to the downpipe.

Will no louder or raspy sound ,i have the OEM mufflers.
I dont now is the pre cat same as the second cat or different?

I was thinking the same thing so I asked Richie from RV6 whether i could fit an 8in cat to where the PCD was (i have a RV6 PCD), he said he didn't have a chance to measure and they would be testing a (pre) catted version soon.

Was thinking about pairing the PCD with a J2 HI-Power catback exhaust as an upgrade to the secondary stock cat. Though the pieces don't seem to align. Would my best option be PCD + HFC + new muffler?

I'm no expert, but I think it depends on what you're trying to achieve.

Changing out the stock secondary cat to an HFC or testpipe, may yield more power. Changing out the stock catback to a new "(catback) exhaust" generally doesn't yield as much power as changing out the catalytic converters. The same can be said (even more so) for simply changing out mufflers or basic axle back systems.

So with that being said, what is your goal? Are you going for a specific sound? Are you interested in performance? If both, which one do you value more? Mind you, changing out the cats on our cars usually inherits rasp (and possibly drone as well if you change out the catback too), so this is also something to consider. If you can answer some of these questions, we could probably help you out a bit better.

Thanks for the reply. Sound is of no concern to me, the louder the better. I simply wanted a boost in performance seeing as this is my daily and will be using it to travel back and forth from school to home. Occasionally I will hit the highway and look for a quick race also so the added performance is a plus. Btw I have a '12 Accord Ex.

Then go with the PCD and the HFC (or test pipe) before considering exhaust upgrades behind the cats.

+1

CT Engineering said the stock exhaust flow pretty well and there are minimal gains from a CAT Back. PCD + test pipe would yield the best flow.

Thread Revival- Has anyone paired the RV6 Downpipe and Highflow cat to a aftermarket catback exhaust? My Setup includes a Fujitsubo Legalis R catback and am yet to get everything installed as its still all in the mail. What I am trying to establish is too see if I will get the infamous rasp and what others have done to rectify it.

I'm enticed by this downpipe. The gains look pretty decent. The dyno sheet is reporting ~14HP with a CAI. I read through the install instructions and it seems not be too bad. Possibly a driveway job, or a few hours of labor at a local shop. From some reading I did it looks like it is recommended to install a HFC too. I don't plan on tuning the car. Would this upgrade be worth it?

I just received my Downpipe with High Flow Cat combo and plan on installing it on Saturday or Tuesday the latest. My setup also includes a Fujitsubo Legalis Catback with a CT Engineering CAI. So from what I was reading nobody ever has complained about the gains. Just that Rasp sound which I am yet to experience. Regardless I will update you on how it goes. As this thread has become pretty dormant and I have even tried facebook messenger to RV6 and they haven't responded.
