Adding an amplifier to the existing factory sub
Hey everyone,
I am happy with my subwoofer install except on aspect. This trunk is a bit smaller/different form than my old car. My current subwoofer is in a pretty dense box and takes up a decent amount of space even for a single 10". I've been considering two choices. I'm not interested in a custom box.
1. Get a smaller form factor subwoofer. There are very slim subwoofers/box combos for about $100 on Amazon that pioneer makes. They get good reviews but without hearing it, I am a bit hesitant. I doubt it will have the nice kick that my current huge magnet 10" has.
2. The free option. Power the factory sub with an external amplifier. This could potentially give me 100% of my trunk space back.
I'm sure the factory sub is going to hit like a pig, but has anyone done this?

Took my powered sub out on Sat, was buying some things and needed the trunk space, I plugged the oem sub back just for fun....It sounded like sh!t lol Op don't bother trying to power it.
