2012 TSX BlueTooth: No Metadata?
Hi everyone. I just got my second TSX in the past 3 years, this time a 2012 wagon with Tech Package. This morning I was driving the car and playing around with BlueTooth Audio streaming, I realized that the car has no metadata about what's playing. Is it possible that a car from 2012 still won't have a simple feature like this? 2010 G37 has bluetooth metadata, so I figured for sure this car would as well.

Yep. It's 100% possible. Figure though, that the 2G TSX didn't receive much updating over its run, and with the length of a design cycle, the infotainment system was locked down some time in the early/mid-2000s.
That's one of the bigger gripes about this car, the antiquated infotainment system.
And of course, adding in some sort of phone mirroring ability is a custom hack job at this point. So it's mostly grin and bear it at this point.
I'm just ecstatic it *has* Bluetooth! "It's that kind of thrill!"

too add, one also couldn't compare across manufactures, as auto manuf. will always be playing catch up to somebody.
just because the 2008 G37 had a feature, doesnt automatically mean the the lower end TSX will have that same feature as well.
and by lower end, i mean at the lower end of the price of the car when new.

So, I had a chat with Acura Support agent this morning, who has informed me that Android devices are not supported for metadata transfer by this generation of Acura GPS. The later models got a whole new OS, which included Android support, but I can't upgrade to it, because it's not as easy as updating firmware. This is my wife's car anyway, so I don't she will care as much as I do. She's got HTC, so she's out of luck as well. According to the support agent, the only one that's supported is IOS, so maybe I'll buy her an iPhone for her birthday or something. Kinda disappointed a little bit, but not a deal breaker I guess, especially since I'm not going to be driving the car.
