Koni Yellow or Red Question
Can anyone tell me their experience with Koni Yellow or Red's. I don't want to lower my car or get a rougher ride. I want tighter handling on winding roads and high speed winding roads. At 113,000 miles, its time to upgrade. Also, what is the advantage of the coilovers?
Thanks, Tomb

Im not sure what if any difference in the yellow to red. i dont think there is any other than the yellow one available for our car. That said i have the koni yellow with H&R sport lowering springs and the ride is just as good as stock. If you keep the stock shocks you wont have any complaints with the ride, plus you can always firm it up if you need.

Will a simple upgrade to the Yellow Koni's without new springs make the car handle tighter? Or am I wasting $, just buy stock replacement struts/shocks?
Can you post a picture of your combo to show the ride hight?
Thanks

i am also curious about the ride height and performance out of koni sport(yellow) and the h&r sport springs combo. i dont want it to be slammed like the cars i had in my teens, but i want a little more stability, being that i still like to frequent 100+. i have 03 tl-s. i already have this set up ive just been hesitant to install them. ive heard its a popular set up. some opinions??

no pics, my setup is 1.75" drop. take 2 fingers on top of each other set them on top of your tire and the top of your finger is where the fender sits.

Koni also makes Str.t (orange) struts but I'm yet to see a review on here. They are $200+ cheaper than yellows. I called Koni and they are like yellows on 3/4 turn. I have my fronts on 3/4 turn and rears on 1 turn and it's a bit firmer than stock but handles great. Just another option at a lower cost (they are also shortened for use with lowering springs).

Ok Fsttyms, I'm convinced. I'll use your set up of Yellow Koni's and H&R Springs. Will this make life difficult when it comes time for alignment? Thanks for your help. Tomb

No. some have needed a camber kit for the rear afterwards, others havent. I didnt need one.

H&Rs ride like stock. Only time you will really know you are lowered are large dips where there isnt as much wheel travel. You can get a 20mm drop with the Koni yellows if you drop the spring perch to its lowest setting.
Either way this setup or the H&R with the koni isnt going to make driving rough or difficult. You wont be in the weeds with it.

Just to show you. I have the yellows with stock springs. I love the ride. I got all the drop I wanted, which I would call a two finger space. I went with the lower perch setting on the Yellow sports. If I were to do it again, I might get some new springs, I have over 220k and I feel like they a little played. I would not want more drop than I already have. Just to note: I have a heavy tool box in my trunk which is making it look a little lower in the rear.
