With that offset you will have a lot less to worry about than me. With my +38 offset I definitely had to roll my fenders and cut tabs to make it work. Yours should be fine, I'm assuming you don't have a very low drop. Depending on your drop, you may have to cut the tabs in the back in order to keep a good camber. (by low drop I mean 2.75" or more)

A 9.5" rim ... (3" or 75 mm wider than OEM spec) ... even with +53 offset and coupled with skinny 215 or 225 tires ... no way.

Hey there Durty....thx 4 the reply. No drop. No modifications to the suspension whatsoever. I guess the only thing to do now is to mount those badboys when they arrive! Thankz 4 ur time bro

No problem man. With stock suspension you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure to get an alignment after you put the rims on

I just got 05 A-Spec Rims

18x8 +45
tires are 245

I am lowered 2.5 inches in the front and rear when i had my 17 inch TSX rims with Coilovers

I test fit them on my car today. The sit flush on the rear, a touch stuck out on the front, and they looked like they were going to rub.

1. if i bore it down 5 mm from a 45 mm offset to a 50 mm offset, would that help?
2. If i raise the front up half an inch and roll the fenders, will that help?

If anyone has successfully run this set on thier 2nd Gen, please chime in with your advice.

Thanks

Smile New to Forum Need Rim and Tire Help

Long time reader first time poster !!

I have a 03 Type-S NHB, and am starting to think about getting some rims and tires for it. The car is not lowered or modified in any way yet Thinking about possibly lowering 1" all the way around late summer or next year maybe.

Wanting to know what would be the best rim and tire size in a 17" or maybe even a 18" that won't create any problems but will look good now or in the future if I do decide to lower it.

Rims I am looking at are:
All bolt patterns are 5-114

19x8 (not sure of offset) Zenetti Five Chrome
17x17.5 offset 42mm AT Italia Propeller
17x8 offset 48mm Enkei Racing Series RP03
18x7.5 offset 48mm Enkei Racing Series RP03
17x7 offset 50mm Kazera KZ-U
18x7 offset 50mm Kazera KZ-U

Also, any info you have on any of the makes would be great.

I had a question so I ask the experts before I make a mistake.

Thanks !

Ive read through this thread trying to see if the 3rd gen. TL wheels will fit on a 2nd gen. TL. It seems that people are saying that it will "fit" but may stick out a bit. Does anyone have pics of cars with this setup?

I got an 03 Type S with Zenetti Fives (19x8 Chrome) . Nice wheels and pretty strong! I have a custom 45 offset. The Fives come from Zenetti with 40 offset. When you order your wheels from your dealer, they must have them shave 5mm off the back hub to achieve the 45 offset. I have confirmed this proecess with a Zenetti employee and it is 100% true in case anyone thinks this sounds crazy...I did at first I have a post with my wheel pics in this thread somewhere.

So i saw some Dubs that i liked the other day and so l looked them up. They have some for the 99 TL but they're a 18x8.5. It says in the OP that this most likely wont work but i wanted to get a second opinion. Thanks!

The link to the rims is:

I just talked to a guy on wheelfire.com and he said that a +40 offset would definetely fit with an 18x8 Azul Speedmesh Wheel. I told him I didn't think he was right, but they have a guaranteed fit program? Should I go with what he says?

When purchasing rims for a car, there are several specifications to ensure a good 'fit'.

1) rim size
2) rim width
3) offset
4) bolt pattern

Rims range from 16" to 19" for our cars. Any smaller and they won't clear the OEM calipers. Any larger and you will have issues with 'rubbing'. I'm sure someone will say, "I got [XX] size to fit", but seriously -- look at their setup and most will not find that look very appealing.

Rim width and offset go hand-in-hand. Depending on your rim width, you have to watch the offset. The wider the rim, the higher the offset (so it doesn't rub up against the wheel well or plastic tabs of the fender when you hit a bump).

Our TL/TLS come with 6.5" rims with +55 offset, made my Enkei. General rule (but not always the case since there is some variation among manufacturers):

7" rim = +42 offset
7.5" rim = +45 offset
8" rim = +48 offset

> 8.5" rim ... forget it unless you wanna do some custom bodywork for it to fit.

This is only a guideline, not an end-all, be-all. Those who have done suspension work may have to find a higher offset than that posted to make sure their application will not have any problems.

Lastly, bolt pattern -- our cars have 5x114.3JJ bolt pattern. Luckily, many rim manufacturers make this bolt pattern but offset will be your limiting factor.

The window sticker on my 07 TL-S says the wheels are 17"x 8"

The specs in this thread refer to the 2nd gen TL's not 3rd gens.

Using 215/50/17 as a basis size to decide upon which 19" tire size to choose:

1) 225/40/19 -- 2.4% too small
2) 235/35/19 -- 0.0036% too big <-- pick this size if they have it
3) 215/40/19 -- 1.2% too small (don't know if such a size exists)

Alright guys, here's another "will they fit?"

Size:
Front wheels are 18x7.5 (+50 Offset)
Rear are 18x8 (+50 Offset)

-and-

Tire Sizes:
Fronts are 225/40/18
Rears are 245/35/18

I'm lowered on Bilstein sport shocks and H & R sports 50103's..Time to cut tabs and roll fenders? or is this something I should back out of? I found a great deal and need your inputs before I end up purchasing the wheels.

Thanks in advance fellow AZiners

I also wanted to know if the rims I'm looking at will fit my 2000 3.2TL.

They're the Acura CL-S rims. 17x7 with a 55mm offset (I believe). I'm also using 225/50ZR17s.

So will those rims fit? Here is the link to them in case you'd like to view 'em ----> http://cgi.ebay.ca/17-Acura-sport-3-...QQcmdZViewItem

You're probably going to need to cut tabs & roller fenders in the back ... 245 tires are kinda wide for a 2nd gen TL that is lowered.

You have OEM TSX rims? Their offset and rim width are almost identical to TL rims. No need to cut tabs or camber kit.

If they are rims for a Acura CL-S ... you will have no problems fitting on a 2000 TL. And yes, they are 17x7 with a +55 offset. Enjoy!

If I am not mistaken this is a general rule for wheels on our cars:

7" rim = +42 offset
7.5" rim = +45 offset
8" rim = +48 offset

NOW, here is what I came in contact with. I got 19x7 with offset of 47+. They are wrapped in 235/35/19. However, they do rub with 1 finger gap all around. I am on Tein SS. Installed both wheels and suspension the same day. I am rubbing on corners (not even sharp ones), on bumps as well. Any ideas on whats going on here??? I should be within safe range, but I am not

Your in the safe range if those are infact the exact measurements. Also tire WIDTH needs to be factored into that as well!!! Your tire width is most likely causing it. You should be running a 215-225. Also where are you rubbing? Front rear? Have you cut your bumper tabs

You may run into rubbing issues with the wrong size tires.

I want to buy 215 50 17 tires with the 17x7.5 +42 offset wheels. This is my wife's car and she only needs the bare minimum, nothing to fancy.

Will this fit the 2003 TL-s?

Rim Width: 8.5J
Rim Diameter (inches): 19
Offset: 38
Number of Bolts: 5
Bolt Pattern: 5 x 4.50 or 5 x 114.3

Tire Width: 245
Aspect Ratio: 35

Will this setup work with my car? I want a good fitment. Let me know. Thanks
