its not attached to the tranny at all other than the 2 tranny coolant lines.

Ok looks like i stand corected. I dont know what i was thinking when i said not on the tranny. It is on the tranny right in back where the half shafts go into it. Only thing is is this is confusing me now, is there are NO electrical conectors going to the part. (there isnt a conection like on top of the one shown) so there must be something else??

The 3rd pic down, the 2 sensors on top are the 2 closest sensors to the out put area. not sure what they are for though

If your car has Navi, it has the electrical sensor on it....it has something to do with tracking the speed of the car against gps....I just replace the unit on my car....if you don't have navi you don't have it...
Also, I have no clue why it goes through the ECM....but the plug melted on mine causing the fuse to blow to the ECM and putting the transmission in failmode....with a flashing D4 which made it take off in fourth gear...

Actually if the op was wondering where the vehicle speed sensor was located, then that is the magnetic pickup assembly on top of the trans near the end cover. I believe you have to take the battery tray off for easier access. The sensor reads the turning output of the secondary shaft and sends it back to the ecm, then the ecm sends it to the instrument panel.
