The vehicle on the highway was on the verge of stalling. The check engine light came on and the oil light started to blink. I checked the oil level and it was fine but added a half of a quart to topped off level. I left the car overnight and just the engine light comes on. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, the engine light is on... so might as well check what the code is.

Do not reset the ECU, Get those codes read first at any Autozone...

The oil blinking means it was dangerously low on oil, make sure you check it while the car has been off for awhile so all the oil is in the pan for an accurate reading on the dipstick. Too much oil can also cause problems.
