The Proverbial Rat's Nest

As I plan on changing my knock sensor sub-harness for the second time, I post this photo from the first time a rat chewed through the harness. Rats Nest

LOL!

I'm in Texas as well, and I keep those sticky traps in my garage.
I love catching them then putting them out of their misery.

The car was being driven daily at the time by my (then) GF, up in the Seattle area. I went up for a visit and discovered the nest, and removed all the flotsam. A couple or 3 weeks later the GF called with the "my check engine, VSA and ! are on" news. It must have been the rat's revenge for cleaning its home. I think I had the last laugh after a few boxes of rat poison later; although it did take a few months to find him (or her). Attached is the photo. Perhaps it's ghost is who chewed through the harness this time!
