Blowgarian's Build Thread

Sup. Just got rid of my Integra and got into a TL-S, I love it.

This will be my slow but chill build thread.

Just bought it, 2003 at 95,000 miles.

So far, I just got some new rims for it.

I'll add better photos as I take them. Currently saving for coilovers.
In the mean time, I might get some window tint and other aesthetics.

Here's how she sits now.

I was considering Form&Function Type 1's. But I have some time to do more research.

Clean ride, I would go with D2 coils. I have had the FF Type 1 and there not worth the money. I would rather save up more and do it right. It like $550 to $950 but the extra $400 is worth the difference

Thanks! And I actually do have pictures, I loved my teggy. It was a 94 LS.

First I had her stock

Then I lowered her on basic springs (cheap, I know )
It was cool for a while.

And then someone did some bad work on it, and I ended up crashing because the wheel flew off while I was driving.

Didn't wanna fix it. Sold it, got a TL That's the story of my teggy.

Another option: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/c-mod-acura-tl-02-03-mesh-grill-822798/

I prefer the floating A if you choose to do one of the previous 2

Wanted to post some pics of the interior.

It's all black leather with the brushed steel trim.

I plan to eventually change the trim to wood grain.

Does anyone know where I can get the plastic trim pieces? I've looked around and I only found them directly from Acura, and they're hundreds of dollars. Any help would be appreciated.

You're probably best off going to a junkyard and getting them from a car there!

if you used vinyl on your black trim, look for someone who has a TL P and is willing to trade for your black trim. I believe that's what 02ACTCLEAN did.

You can get the center console trim pieces from a cl. That trim was never an option on the tl. The only way to do the door panel trim is paint, vinyl, or off an 02-03 apec....hard to find those parts.

My door panel trim is straight up missing, so I would still have to buy the pieces regardless.

I just REALLY like the look of the wood with the black leather

You kinda screwed. The door panel trim isn't sold by itself. You would have to buy the whole panel. Im pretty sure there is a tl part out in the bm right now. Or ebay

Just in, yellow fogs

I like this look for now. I plan on redoing my lighting up front in the future; take off the gold film, get 6k HIDs, and clear the headlight housings, and possibly paint the housings black. But that's all after coilovers- and I'm getting close, hopefully my tax returns should get me there.

edit: ooh, and I plan on doing the mod where I can have fogs with no headlights, hopefully soon!

Hey man, if you are looking to swap those brushed steel trim pieces for some wood grain ones, I have some TL-P wood grain pieces! My car is silver, and those would look damn good in my car!

Also, are those Motegi MR7s? I just picked up a set myself! Gunmetal though!

Got my woodgrain trim in last night thanks to cincinattlguy19 for the trade!

Super happy with the way it looks!!
Plan on getting the woodgrain wheel, and possibly shift knob. Although I really like the S on the knob.
We'll see, after I get my D2's haha.

Also went through some dumb shit with a shitty mechanic. Gave it to him to switch out my wheel bearing, it took him 6 days, and he gave it back with a fucked up rotor, and he stripped two studs, replaced them, and gave me it back with 3 lugs, and two random ones he bought that don't fit. You could SEE where he hit the rotor with a hammer. So I just finished replacing the rotor and putting lugs on. OH, and my ABS light is now on..

tl;dr: Only get shit done at shops you can trust.

Hi again AZiners. Just a small update;

I'm going through the transmission rebuild that seems inevitable for a lot of fellow 2G drivers. I just dropped off the car at the shop, $1800 for the rebuild, plus the price of mounts. So much for coilovers It should be nice and fresh by Friday.

In the mean time, here's some photos of my car and my pup she was being my model while I did my wash/cleaning ritual.

I do plan on getting my headlights redone after the rebuild, so I'll keep you guys posted

You should have swapped in an AV6 trans or a CL-S 6 speed instead of rebuilding the ticking time bomb of a transmission we have!

I don't really trust any shops out here that can do it clean, it's not even a matter of price. And I'm no mechanic. I think if you want it done right, you'd have to it yourself.

We've had my sister's 2002 SSM for over 5 years and had no problems with the trans until it overheated one day (at 225k miles) on a trip to California. She just got hers rebuilt by the same shop and it's back to running clean. So I expect to get quite a good life out of my ABP

I don't mean to double-post, but there's a Inspire grille on eBay right now!

Hey guys. After getting my tranny rebuilt, I haven't been able to listen to my radio at all.

I keep getting the Code1-9 error. I've tried disconnecting the antenna cable, and entering the code that is on the inside of my glove box. But the serial number on there doesn't match the one on the actual headunit. I took it to the stealership and they told me they couldn't find my code. He kept telling me the Serial number couldn't be found.

Does anyone have any idea of what I can do? I'm really tired of listening to my phone in the cupholder

Consider an aftermarket headunit

I purchased a single DIN > $100 and the sound quality is much better and I have MORE features than stock. You can can get a double din as well.

Check out www.crutchfield.com

Thanks! I am definitely going to get a double-DIN soon

Does anyone know exactly how to retain control of the factory sub with an aftermarket headunit?

I've been doing research, but I couldn't establish a definitive answer. I've read that there is some Bose EQ that runs the sub, but I've also read that you can directly wire the sub via RCA. Can anyone help me with this? Any ideas are appreciated.

If you are going for a double-DIN, I would recommend the Kenwood DPX-500BT. Installed it in my TL about a month ago and Im loving it. Better sound quality out of the speakers as well.

I personally couldn't find any way to retain the factory sub. Im not sure if you could wire it into the RCA ports, but even if you could, I don't think the RCAs would put out enough power to even make the sub audible. I went with a 12" aftermarket sub and Im pretty happy with that.

Thanks for the suggestion. Which bezel kit did you buy to fit it? And did it take modification?

I was looking into getting the Boss BV6824B, which has a DVD reciever, and eventually pairing it with a small monitor where the stock navi would go

Nice little progress thread! I'll be checking in from time to time. I'd love to see you go back to stock wheels, and eventually the coils. Sorry to hear of your tranny issues
