ChocBoyWonder's '08 RL

I haven't really posted any pics of what I have been up to in the past year as I was trying to get my car ready to represent RLs at this weekends Import Alliance at the Kentucky Speedway. I managed to drive in the winner's circle and snap a couple pics.

I've heard the good, bad and they ugly and to each their own.

Canadian Loaded 2008 RL Lakeshore Silver Metallic (NH686M)
What I've done;

JDM Headlights
LED projector front turn signal bulbs
Super white LED corner bulbs
LED bulb swap (Interior, trunk, plate)
Legend scuff plates
Mugen Spoiler
Wood grain steering wheel & shift knob
Ford Fusion fog swap with Morimoto ballastats/6000K bulbs
JDM CMBS Grille swap
Rear Badged as Honda Legend
Full Aspec Underspoiler
Mugen suspension with H&R Springs
Rolling on a square setup of BMW Style 121 8.5x19 +14

Changes on the way:
JDM Caliper swap
Mugen Suspension with H&R springs

Nice set up. You have some interior pictures that you care to share? Where's the power folding mirrors at?

I'll get some interior pics, never thought to take any since inside is kinda plain jane and not really that different. As for the mirrors, this other stuff got in the way and was pressing to see what I could get done by this weekend. I want to see if I can git it done by the end of the season though. Forgot to mention that my rotors are cross drilled but I'll take pictures after I swap the calipers.

Very clean!

The wheels are a little too flush IMO, but the only thing it really needs is those awful DRLs fixed.

Nice! Care to share some closeups of your Fusion fogs? I'm curious to see how yours turned out

I agree x2. I don't mind the flush look but again it was the choice of wheel that I was happiest with. I find we don't have many options.

Not really to be honest. I'm not really a fan of them and would like to figure out a retro setup. In all honesty they came out just like everyone elses. I set them up the same as yours except that mine bracket is bolted on instead of welded. I am going to pull them off.

The reason I asked is because they looked like they were set differently than mine To be completely honest, you would probably use bolts even if you were to retrofit them into the housing, but you could use some epoxy to mold a custom shroud around them. If you can find a shroud solution, I think it would solve everyone's problem with it

EDIT: Something like this

I did a quick job because I had it all off working on other things. I'm not at all happy with them. Do we know what projector would fit in our OEM fogs? I am going to try to get help sourcing out parts that fit.

Another alternative I've seen is blazer foglights that could probably be set into the OE housing. To be honest, you saw how much space we have in there... Doesn't leave much to work with. Any small, sealed projector would work really. This isn't a well explored field at all, behind me and carbon legend, you're probably the third person to attempt this on an RL... And Carbon's setup is pretty much a mirror image of mine ...

I like it, but needs more low. I think it would also help with the look of the wheels.

Haha ya, I saw him. He stayed at the hotel across from the speedway. There were quite a few TL's this year but only 2 RL's

I am going to open up my fog with the broken lens and start experimenting. I was Googling and came across an IS250 or 300 fog and shroud that looks like it'd fit but I lost the pic. I am going to see what the options are. I'll probably go all out and cut the back of the housing to fit something proper.

I agree, I am probably going to sell the Mugen setup as much as i don't want to...its so rare. I am figuring between the comfort sport, street flex and/or air setup. I don't know much about air and have started researching, but I definitely want to go lower.

Im digging the setup so far. ^ +1 on interior pics.

Like how the 6 series wheels look on the rl. Never thought of that setup, very unique!

Aaaaand TIME!!! Hahaha

A little over 2 years, a couple of trips to Kentucky and time to post again. I been too busy and haven't had the time I used to have. I wanted to post when I finished but doesn't look like I'm going to get where I want to before the season ended. This is my attempt to get as close as I can to an 'Honda Legend M1 Complete'. Here's what I have done;

And here are the pics. Taken in July at Import Alliance (Summer). Minor changes since then; I adjusted the struts so I am lower when I air out.;

I got plans for the winter and should be busy...

I'm sorry I didn't get to see the car like this at the last meet.

Looks awesome, Mr. Rowe, you have definately put in some good work!

I am hoping I can get mine complete and ready in time to roll to Kentucky with you next year.

You didn't get an RL did you!?!? FYI That's Ken's white Celsior parked beside me. He just started parting out to work on his next project.

Just seeing this post now, lol.

As you know, no, didn't pick up an RL.

Ken is already on to another project, wow, something else JDM, or something from this side of the 'pond'?

Whatever it is, I am sure it's going to be very well done.

Glad I got to see the old ride before he got rid of it.

I am holding off till the nice weather comes before I start really jumping in to the project. No point in having parts just sitting around collecting dust/rust.

Too bad, there is a nice LSM fully Aspec going for 6K. I wanted to grab it but got too much going on. As for Ken, you already know its gonna be big. All I will say is it is of course RHD. haha

Here are some updated pics with some subtle changes. Painted and installed the Mugen side underspoiler, installed Mugen visors, Mugen exhaust tips and installed refinished Racing Hart C2's

Looks WAY better than the winter mode I saw it in recently.....and even that was still respectable.

What air ride setup did you end up going with?
