Wink Surround View Cameras/360 Degrees Cameras

Hi all,
I've looked around the forum for anything related to 360 cameras to no avail. Please forgive me if there is already a thread with information pertaining to what I'm about to ask. The 2nd Gen RL has a nice yet aggressive look to it. Now here comes the 3rd Gen with a ton of new features with most being standard. So the newer one has more space and features, my favourite is the Surround View Cameras or the 360 Degree Cameras. I had planned on keeping my 2008 80K for a long time, so I'll bring the Surround View Cameras to my Road Luxury.

After installing an Ainol mini Win10 PC via NavTool video redirect, my next mod project is to install the 360 camera system. I was thinking of using the same system that’s in the 2016 RLX (might be pricey) or the Alpine system that’s in the BMW.

So my question, anyone here done it or knows of anyone who has or have any info or advice on the cameras/system/application? I have been researching and would like more info. Some 360 camera systems claim to record while the vehicle is driving as well as when the car is parked. Records activities when the vehicle is bumped. Thanx for reading and any input

So I finished the install/mod this weekend. It was a little work but well worth it, like finding a point of entry for the front camera thru the firewall. Mounting the front and rear cameras also took a bit of modifying. Everything else was straight forward drilling holes and fishing the wires then calibrate the cameras.

Excellent job! You are correct that the RLX 360 Cam does not record. But this 360 camera feature is my favorite. If I still had my RL I would have added that system for certain. It has made parking accuracy like docking to the spacestation. I love the multiple views. Another valuable cam view is the side flanks to avoid curbing the wheels. Do the reversing guidelines arc with the turn on the wheels?

You also made excellent choices of the camera mountings, very discreet. I would suspect a NavTool kit would become available for the RLX to include cam recordings. The 'bump and record' feature would be ideal for insurance claims. In the future - these features should offer additional discounts to insurance premiums as has alarms, disabled ignition and car tracking features.

The overhead or 'birdseye' view is made by stitching together the four camera views (front / rear and 2 side mirrors) around the center top view image of the car (using the wide angle views). It is very accurate and you can even see any obstacles on the ground (i.e a bottle) or the curb alongside the passenger side that you would not see from the driver's seat. These systems are becoming commonplace on mainstream vehicles and anticipate they will become mandatory as has reversing cams on new cars. This device's ability to record is exceptional.
