New wheels
I just had Costco install my new winter tires on my new steel rims also bought at Costco.
They told me to go back after 40 km to check the lug nuts to make sure that are tight enough.
Is this normal? It is the first time they ask me this.
Thanks

Brand new wheels typically have either paint or powder coating or clear coat covering the mounting surface where the lugs tighten the wheels, and it can start to loosen a bit as it flakes away. Additionally the material near the lug holes can slightly compress the first time they're mounted. so most shops have you come back after 50 miles or so on a fresh install to check the tightness. Usually, the second time (and beyond) that you put a wheel on a car you don't have to do this since the lug mounting area is "broken in" (so to speak). Just good practice. Obviously if you have the tools you could do this yourself....

I will be changing the wheels of my other car this weekend, I might as well do it myself.
Thanks for your answer
