2013 RDX Tech - Amber Brownstone

Hey Guys,

This is the RDX. Finally was able to upload pictures of it. I'll try to take better pictures on later date and upload them.

mykey06...Congrats on your RDX! You will enjoy this vehicle immensely like we all do. I really love your color and that was the other color I was debating on choosing...white or yours. In the end I went with white but I went this "taupish" color for my Hyundai Accent. Its a great color....Good choice!

Did you modify your fog lights already or you installed these as after markets since your RDX didn't have any?

I actually love the color you got. I was debating of going white or brownstone. I have 98 4dr GSR white and Insight white as well. I love white cars! My wife wanted a change so we went with the brownstone which we do not regret one bit.

I used the Lamin-x for the fog lights and headlights:
Fog lights - https://www.lamin-x.com/ProductDetai...ductCode=1-612
Head lights - https://www.lamin-x.com/ProductDetai...ductCode=2-930

I just pretty much wrapped the headlights and fog lights with these lamin-x covers. It also adds as protection from rock chips. The yellow tint for the fog light is actually more useful since it cuts through fog better I think.

^^^ We should share/swap for 6 months of the year.....Vehicle that is! I'd get to drive the brownstone and you'd get your white *lol* Thanks for the clarification on the light covers, I never tried the yellow fog lights so I can't attest to your statement of being better in the fog but I did hear that somewhere too.

Lanman...Great shots and color!! The more I see this color, the more I like it. It makes the RDX look so sophisticated, almost like a different vehicle altogether.

BTW...I noticed that unlike mykey06, yours doesn't have the splash guards....are you planning on adding them? I realize they don't add alot of protection (They do some) but they sure enhance the look of the lower portion of the vehicle....esthetically, they flow well which is not like the days of the flimsy and flappy mud guards,,,,

Hey Weather,
Now that you mention it, I think it does look a little nicer with the splash guards. I have a $50 credit with the Acura dealer so I will probably pick them up soon.

Do you know if you have remove the tires to install them? The last time I installed a set I had to and I no longer have my floor jack.

No tire removal is necessary. Only front wheel needs to be turned completely to have more working room. Rear ones are super easy. There are instructions available on the Acura website.

Be very careful regarding tightening sequence. I had to loosen and tighten a few times to eliminate the gap.

Nice color by the way!!

I used this tool to make the installation easier and it's also good for those tight spaces sometimes.

Just picked them up.

Thanks Weather, that's $100 I'll never see again!

I will snap some pics as soon as I get off my lazy butt and install them in a day or two.

Seriously, thanks Weather for pointing out how they "enhance the look of the lower portion of the vehicle". I can't wait to see them on.

Nice pics all, I do think the splash guards make the car look more "finished" (although I have my doubts how functional they really are).

Anyway, here's a few snaps of ours:

Congratulations on your new ride. Quite an interesting color! It looks lavender in some shots, almost black in another and brown in yet another. And the splash guards really did enhance the look.

Regards, Jim

Lanman.....I am very delighted to see the outcome of the splash guard...Not that your vehicle didn't look nice before but these sure makes it look nicer for sure! I do want to apologize for ruining the joy of using your 100$ tool for those "tight spots" *lol* If you don't want them anymore, I'll give you my mailing address *lol*

I appreciate the "Thank You" you gave me....I like being to positively contribute to the forum and help out out Acuraziners,,,,,Seeing the outcome, I see it worked in this case

I really like the white pinstripe you added. It really accents the amber brownstone color on the RDX nicely. How much did it cost to add it?

The pinstripe (its actually silver) is an extra Montana Acura includes but I asked the guy who installed it and he said it is $50. It's a 3M tape and he had a little bag of Acura logos (there is one on each side though you can't really see it in the photos).

I had a gold pinstripe on my noble green TL and I really think it brings out the darker colors.

I'm ready to get an RDX and was all set to get one in the Graphite color but after looking at your RDX, I'm not sure now. Your RDX looks REALLY good to me. With the running boards and pinstriping, your RDX looks good from all sides with these added touches. You got good taste. Thanks....SactownX

Thanks very much, we like it a lot too. I was a little worried about the running boards in particular before I saw them on the car but I think in combination with the pinstripe they really bring out the elegant lines of the RDX.

MYKEY06-headlight film

I used the Lamin-x for the fog lights and headlights:
Fog lights - https://www.lamin-x.com/ProductDetai...ductCode=1-612
Head lights - https://www.lamin-x.com/ProductDetai...ductCode=2-930

I just pretty much wrapped the headlights and fog lights with these lamin-x covers. It also adds as protection from rock chips. The yellow tint for the fog light is actually more useful since it cuts through fog better I think.[/QUOTE]

I am very interested in installing the headlight film by Lamin-x. It looks like they make pre-cut film but I don't see any options for the 2013 RDX. Did you cut the film yourself or were you able to get pre-cut version somewhere?

Thanks!

Congratulations! The Amber Brownstone looks beautiful on the 2013 RDX. It has nice depth that varies w/the sun. This is the color I wanted but ended up choosing Graphite when I was told I couldn't get the AB with ebony interior.

Brownstone looks great.

I'm unsure which color we'll get.....have a black TSX now, and will keep but PITA to keep clean...was thinking white. They have a brownstone on showroom floor but hard to visualize color in sunlight etc. with all the fluorescent lighting.
So may consider this now too... still a month or 2 from buying.

I had a black car prior to this one, never again.

With my brownstone RDX it NEVER looks dirty, it's an awesome color.

Lanman...Great advice. If I didn't do WHITE, this color would be my second choice then Silver in Third choice.

I made the mistake of showing my wife your pictures and now she's wanting a white RDX for herself but she thinks it would be weird to have two of the same kind of car. I don't think it's weird just because the RDX is so damn functional, it truly is the perfect blend of a sports car and an SUV.

*LMAO* Don't show her pictures of ME....she might just decide to just come and live with me instead - Just kidding of course

I agree...this RDX is so versatile and enjoying to drive, not to mention that it rivals with the best of sedans when it comes to fuel efficiency....I can see that having two RDX would not be a bad idea at all! The only problem with you guys in the States is that you can't have white with an Ebony interior...That would be a show stopper for me.

Thats not the only combo... I wish I could get the Amber Brownstone with Ebony interior!! I saw that AB in person and its a great color, but I'm not confident enough in myself to keep the parchment leather in good condition over the years (even though I like the look of parchment better).

The AB only comes with a Parchment interior?!? OMG....I wasn't aware of that. I agree, I love that interior color, it looks very classy and "richer"....but I wouldn't the maintenance aspect. It would be like buying white leather shoes - although they would match my white leather pants *lol* (LADIES....I am only kidding here....I own neither for the record)

I don't mind the maintenance on the parchment. And at least I can see what to clean. When I clean the seats on my type S, it always amazes me the amount of dirt and grime that comes off that I can't see.

It's not so much the cleaning part (though being I wear jeans to work and collect soil samples so I'm usually dirty), but also the worn in look. Leather over time gets wrinkles and creases, which yes gives it character, but I feel can appear overly aged with a lighter color. Maybe it's just me

I would've loved to have seen saddle brown seats as an option - especially with the Amber Brownstone exterior. I'm sure I'll get flack for that comment! I know a lot of people hate saddle brown leather, but I absolutely love that look. Saddle brown with a black trim I think looks classy. I saw it on the 2013 Volvo S60 T5 the other day and it was hot.
