Question Oil filter substitute

Using WIX 57536 oil filters for my 2013 RDX AWD. Have a few leftover WIX 51334 from my Acura TL. Would like to use them on my RDX. They appear to be same in every way exception of the burst pressure. WIX 57536 has 363 psi burst pressure while 51334 280 psi. Anyone know if it is OK to use the 51334 on RDX with 280 pis burst pressure?

Considering Honda uses the same OEM filters across all their line, including the RDX and TL, I would guess you'll be ok.

Right. What's the worst that could happen? You could lose oil pressure driving on the freeway but that isn't too bad - or is it?

What's the burst pressure on an OE Honda filter?

So you actually think that an RDX has higher pressure than a TL? If WIX is making a filter that is so close to the edge that it supports a TL but not an RDX, then that's definitely not wix-like. The OEM honda filters are made by Fram these days, and I'd guess that it has lower burst pressure than anything WIX will make. I can't believe there's a risk......

No, but there has to be some reason for somebody to make two different filters. The engineers didn't wake up some morning and say "let's make things more expensive for ourselves and our resellers by creating a whole new (but identical) filter". A filter is under $7 when you buy 5 - do you want to take that chance without researching why they have different filters?

280 is safely above OEM spec for oil filter burst pressure.
