Potential 2013 RDX Buyer

Hello All:
I currently own a 2007 RDX w/Tech & I am thinking of checking out the 2013 RDX w/Tech. I have not test driven yet, but I am hearing that the 2013 RDX ride has only slightly improved over my 2007 RDX. There are days driving through bumpy Boston streets in my 2007 RDX that I feel like I have been beaten up from the ride. How do people find the ride in the new RDX 2013?
Thanks!

^^^ Welcome to the forum. You will find numerous thread discussing the ride of the 2G versus the 1G RDX.

The overall consensus is that the 2G is much smoother and softer but some complain that the steering feel is dead. I would disagree and initially, you would notice a big difference but they are 2 different systems all together but once you will get used to the EPS, you will get used to it and will find it is quite good.

There are a few reports of issues with noisy rear suspension, HID set too high and blinding on coming drivers, vibration at low speed as transmission is trying to shift from 5th gear to 6th gear but none are show stoppers in my opinion. I still love my RDX and would not do anything different if I had to start over again...

2013 RDX driver

I didn't have the previous version RDX, but can tell you I love my 2013 AWD/tech. I would not want a softer ride on this vehicle, we find it very comfortable, just right. The Tech package is a good value compared to the competitors and the stereo is flat awesome. I think you will appreciate the new engine and powerdrive. The variable cylinders give improved MPG. I get the advertise values, for me that makes 25 mpg for my day to day driving.

I understand the handling is not quite as sporty as the previous version. From my view as a new RDX driver. Again, I find it just right. I have hit some very curvy roads and find the combination of control and sport shifting as AMAZING. This vehicle handles it well and will not beat you up in Boston. Promise.

I test drove your 2007 RDX at the dealership and the 2013 RDX, and personally I liked the drive on the 2013 better. I felt that the 2007 was hitting the potholes on the downtown streets harder than the 2013. But not too say, I didn't feel them on the 2013. I felt them, but just less on the 2013. I test drove the 2012 MDX at the time and that handled the potholes easily. The GF asked me why i was purposely aiming for all the potholes, and I smiled and said these are the roads I would drive on everyday. I need to know what the ride will feel like. The salesman didn't care where I drove, since he felt the same way. If i'm going to invest over 40K on my vehicle, I have a right to know how it'll perform in real world conditions.

TL;DR: Spooky, just go in and test drive it.

I haven't driven the first generation but love the 2013 RDX Tech. For me it hits the sweet spot for great suspension, great acceleration, good to great steering and handling, good to great low road noise, great fuel economy for its size, excellent Honda quality/durability and a price about $8 less than comparable compact luxury SUVs. You can always find one that will be better in one category or another but this vehicle hits the overall sweet spot for me. Reviews say it has a smoother accelerating quieter more powerful engine/transmission, better suspension, less road noise, and less responsive steering/handing than your model due to electric steering and simpler AWD which save weight and add to the better fuel economy. Try it out, I think you will like it!
