Dealership left manufacturer's "protecting" tape on the plastic molding.

As the title reads, the dealership left the clear tape on my car (that I purchased 8 months ago), which over time has cracked and essentially baked into the plastic.

It wasn't a noticeable gradual degradation of the tape that I could have caught early on and pulled the tape off myself. It 'revealed' itself in its current state after a recent car wash & is nearly impossible to peel off with my fingernails without flaking off everywhere.

Is this something the dealership may take full responsibility for and fix? If not, is there something easy I can just do myself ? I've tried soaking a small area with 3M Adhesive Remover & then rubbing it with a microfiber, but it's proving to be a real pain in the ass to try to remove. :\

The dealership should have removed it prior to delivery, so they need to remove it now - or replace the damaged trip if it doesn't clean up.

If the dealership balks, just call Acura.

I purchased my vehicle at a dealership that is 1.5 hours away. Do you think another Acura dealership that's closer to me should be able to replace the damaged strip?

I guess my question can be answered if I call Acura myself. Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm guessing he went through an automatic wash and the chemicals and/or the water temp activated the glue causing it to go white? Otherwise some people don't pay attention to this stuff like we do. I sold some cars 4 years ago and I can still remember where every dent and scratch was.

Can they do it? Of course, but since it isn't a warranty issue they won't get paid for it. Acura could authorize it and charge it back to the selling dealership.
