RDX with vibration
My wife's RDX has less then 1000 miles and when I drove it for the first time this week I felt a low level vibration between 30mph and 50mph, (It's not constant). She doesn't notice it. Has anyone else had this problem or is it me imagination?

I occasionally hear/feel a vibration, but I attribute it to engine lugging. I think the transmission is too aggressive about getting into a higher gear trying to save fuel. Couple a trans in too high a gear along with the cylinder deactivation from 6 to 4 and you might experience some lugging while the vehicle "hunts" for fuel savings.
I never notice this when I drive it with some urgency, but out for a smooth easygoing cruise i'll feel it all the time. I need to see what happens if I drop it into S mode and drive easy. I suspect the issue will disappear.

Mine does the same thing. Having owned several stick shifts...it feels exactly like the car shifts too soon at low speeds and the engine lugs a bit. Put the transmission in "S" and it doesn't do it because it holds the gear much longer....even if driving slow and easy. Annoying at times but not the end of the world unless it gets worse.

Ok...now that we are talking about it I am getting annoyed. Geez. I routinely drive 25 mph in certain areas and the shutter is always there. If I just touch the gas a bit the vibration goes away temporarily.
I am of the mind that a $40k car shouldn't do this. Again, not the end of the world and I still love my RDX but annoying none the less.

i am experiencing this same issue. first noticed at 2600 miles. subtle at first but now it is so noticeable that passengers ask about it. dealer has had it back three times. Acura tech line claims it is normal. second time back they changed out an RSM sensor which controls VCM. no change. mine is AWD and I have not tried S mode but will. $40K comment is valid. no way should this problem be present.

It is a software issue that is causing the car to pick too high of a gear at too low of a speed. They need to tune it to keep the gear a little longer at those speeds.

RDX vibration while driving
Hello and thank God I saw this thread. We traded our 2010 SH-AWD tech TL for a 2013 AWD RDX. We get vibration between 30 - 50 MPH mostly and always tach is between 1400 - 1600 RPM. This didn't happen until around 700 miles into the new vehicle . . . not on test drive or 3 hour ride home when we picked it up. Brought to dealer who tested w computer and checked fluids. Made service manager ride w/us to feel it. Admitted it was there, but "normal" in his "professional opinion." Have been on the phone w Acura 3 times. Have been told there is no "fix" for this because it's not a "problem" and likely due to the vehicle trying to be economical, that I maybe was not used to the 6 speed auto trans, that the computer had "learned" or "not learned" my driving habits, etc. WELL, let me tell you, this is not normal AND not ACCEPTABLE for a $40K car! Never had this issue with my TL (6 speed auto). I even thought that maybe the PDI/TQI was not done completely so I did the procedures to make the car "learn." It did not vibrate immediately after the reset, but started up again the next day. My husband is out of his mind, and I'm getting there, because it is soooo annoying to drive the RDX now. I love the car in every other aspect, but this is unacceptable and driving us nuts. And I refuse to drive in "s" all the time....would have bought a manual sportier car, if I wanted to shift all the time. Very upset and I think we ALL need to call on Acura to address the issue, whether adjustment or software update, etc.

Acura, who I know trolls these forums, better step up to these first year issues. The unrefined problems are very concerning for someone who just bought this car as well, and have my own idle vibration issues that the dealer says "is normal." I havent experienced the problem in this thread though.

Thanks for all of your replies, I have printed them all out and tomorrow the RDX is going back to the dealer to check this problem out. I will give them a copy of these replies.....I'll let the forum know what they say and do.

My wife took her RDX to the dealership last week concerning the low speed vibration. They couldn't replicate the vibration so they told her that she should bring it back if it gets worse. She showed them other mentions of this vibration from this forum and they told her, "We pay no attention to any forums because people will exaggerate and print anything to get attention." Her salesperson also told her that he has sold 30 new RDX's and no one else is complaining. The only one who actually paid any attention to her was the young mechanic who went with her for a test drive. For a 1st time owner of an Acura, we are not impressed. If this continues, we will go back to Infiniti.

I am just curious... is your RDX fixed and less vibration now?
Happy Thanksgiving~!

My 2013 AWD RDX is also experiencing this shuddering problem at low RPM's(often while driving up a mild incline). Agree it is annoying and unexpected in a "luxury" brand. My 2007 RDX NEVER had this problem....oh how I miss the handling and performance of that car!
This and the lousy steering(again a dramatic deterioration compared to my 2007 RDX) are making me consider test driving a Q5....

I've also started experiencing the shuddering mentioned. Seems for me it happens only while at a constant speed, anywhere from 30km-60km/h. I wonder if it's the shutting off of some of the cylinders to save fuel?

If Acura can't fix this downshift issue, I'll be looking at the Q5 also. I guess we all think alike.
I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow. This is on my list of complaints.

The vibration is completely gone. One of the front wheels was out of balance, so it was re-balanced then rotated to the back.
The loose trim was replaced and the rattle turned out be from a loose rear seat latch which was also fixed.
Pye Acura's service was quite good. I was surprised.

Good thread. I started noticing the same thing at around 3000 miles or so. I wasn't sure what to make of it, however it still feels very minor. If it starts to increase I'll definitely call my dealer about it.

Our RDX does the same. I notice that i can get it to quit with a slight increase in throttle, and judging by the instant fuel economy, it is switching from the 3 or 4 cyl mode to 4 or 6 cylinder mode. I'm convinced in our case at least, it has to do with the VCM

I'm pretty sure most of us experiencing this are in the same situation, my dealer says he thinks the best chance is a future software fix. Here's hoping

I am also an AWD owner with about 3.8k miles. I noticed the vibration but never to the point where other people would notice or worthy of a service visit. I immediately attributed it to the cylinder deactivation.
Out of curiosity what octane of gas are most of you putting?

91 for me which is what most gas stations sell up here as their "premium" gas.

Same vibration at slow speed issue here... Very annoying. Thought it was just mine, but test drove a brand new awd with less than 200 miles and it had the same issue.

I have felt this in my wife's RDX. I think it is the transmission as opposed to the VCM. It feels like the transmission cannot decide whether or not it should be in 5th or 6th gear (6th gear almost being an overdrive gear in this transmission). The way I fix it is just to flick the + paddle shifter when I begin to feel the vibration. This shifts the transmission into 6th gear and eliminates the vibration. Interesting to note that when I do that, it ALWAYS shifts into 6th gear (you can see which gear it shifts into briefly on the HID)...it has never occurred at any other shift other than between 5th and 6th.
I also have confirmed that this does not occur in S mode on the transmission...presumably because of the different shift logic.
Anyway, hopefully this may be helpful as people try to get this addressed. I would think a reflash of the transmission would be the eventual fix but we'll see how it shakes out (pun intended).

I have a similar problem with my wifes RDX. Its a low level vibration that can usually be induced under light load. The dealer replaced the propeller shaft today. I didn't feel the vibration on the way home from the dealer. I'm hoping its fixed.
#31
still hoping to hear from hrut to see if replacement of the propeller shaft resolved his problem. mine was replaced in early April and during a follow up call from district manager a week later i reported the "fix" to be 75% better than before. it has since slipped to almost the same level of irritation as before the shaft was replaced. very annoying and i know i'm not alone on this one. hope to see a post from anyone who has been lucky enough to have found the right solution.

I had the same problem with my 2013 RDX AWD Tech, which I bought used with 70Kms - around 85kms I started to notice a vibration or shudder at 1200-1500RPMs. I thought it was going to be a nightmare explaining this to a mechanic but during the road test he felt it right away.
They replaced the Propeller shaft as per A-2-14 Bulletin and so far it seems to have fixed the problem.
