2013 RDX Fog Light Installation

Hi Guys,
I need to install a FOG Light to my 2013 RDX and I am looking for a local shop that could do the installation. Dealership labor cost is way high. I got a OEM fog light ready to install. Do you know a shop here in local San Diego? Let me know!

Thanks!!

Sorry can't help you with a SD shop but it looks to be a rather involved process to install. If you take a look at the install instructions posted on Bernardi's site it shows the entire front bumper having to be removed so I can see why the cost is moderately high.
If you are ambitious and confident in your skills you could install them yourself. The instructions seem very thorough.

rdxJP....and as MichealSF indicated, given the complexity of the installation, wouldn't it be best to have it installed by the dealer? Too bad you didn't have installed as an accessory because they would have been covered under the warranty of of the vehicle...I always buy all my accessories at day of purchase for that reason alone

I think I will go to the dealership and have it installed. Talked to them and they said they will beat the ebay price for the kit. Just that they can't give me discount on the installation cost.

I should have got the TECH Package but there is no turning back now. Just need to wait till someone from here will have successful story on converting the Hallogen headlight into HID. I really love to do it but still waiting for others to do it. hehe

Weather, saw your RDX... it's beautiful!! I was supposed to get the same color as yours but too bad they don't have Ebony interior. I have a 2 yr old Son and he likes to mess up inside the car so I really need a EBONY interior.

1. Having the dealer install it is a great idea and worth the extra cost (if any) in my opinion. If something goes wrong, they are going to look after you much better. Don't forget to ask if they can make them warrantied as the vehicle.

2. There are some advantage to the tech package but don't regret it as it will take the fun out of your RDX. Enjoy it to its fullest

3. Thanks....I agree that I am baffled as to why Acura would not make White/Ebony combo available to the US....with a child, Ebony is a near MUST. It all depends on how messy the kids are. I am not going to rub it in but its is an amazing combo and love this RDX to death!

Don't forget to posts pics if you haven't done so already!

I will post pics once I got the fog light installed. ehehe.. I am not used to my RDX yet, I had a 2012 MDX for 2 months before I decided to trade it in into RDX due to GAS MILAGE. I love the MDX (HID + Fog Light) except for the GAS Milage. But of course, I love my RDX now, just want to get rid of the Hallogen Headlight! I wonder if I can buy the entire HID headlight unit and have it installed in the BASE rdx?

I would think so but then again, I am not the best one to ask...I am a quick call at the parts dept at the Acura Dealership will tell you if this is doable or not. If it is, then you can decide on what is the best course of action to complete your project.

OUCH...trading a 2 month old MDX must have hurt the pocket book no? You would have to save quite a bit of gas before recouping the money lost on your MDX...unless you got a very very good offer for yours.

Hey rdxjp,

Any pictures to see? Also, can you share the installation instruction for the foglight?

Lol... $500???

I may not be as fast as them, but I'll take half of that and install it for you... ==

Haven't had the chance to work on my RDX yet, but taking off a bumper slant be hard at all... (I have taken down quite a few before, worked at a body shop. Mine and customers... )

It sounds like that also included the actual hardware which goes for 250-300 so I don't think 500 is not all that bad. It sounds like you have the talent to do something like remove bumpers but for us mere mortals like me I would be willing to pay a couple hundred to know it was done right

Yeah, this includes the kit itself. The Acura price is $360. The dealer is charging me $300 for the kit and $200 for the install. They say it will take two to three labor hours, so seems pretty fair to me.

You did not get a bad deal. Seems pretty fair and all depends on competition in your area. I had mine installed before I picked up the RDX. My dealer wanted $560 but I found another that would do it for $375 so they dropped their price to $400.

Had my fogs put in today. Funny, but was surpised to see that you can't have the fog lights on without the low beams going as well. I thought they made a mistake and made them take me in to the showroom to show me how a tech fog light system worked, and it was the same way.

That is a US DOT requirement. You are only supposed to use fog lights on public highways with low beams on. If you put on the high beams you will notice they go out.

I think Mikey Dallas was under the impression that you could drive with the fog lights "on" only and not have to use the headlights (low beams). I think the MDX is like that, at least that is how they are in Canada. I love seeing an MDX coming down the road with their fog lights on only....wish the RDX (or my TL) could also do that.

Diy

I installed them with my son's help - mainly to reinstall the bumper and had no real problems. Just one caution is that the fastening method for the bumper on the sides is easily damaged as you pull the bumper loose from the body. However, it did not cause an issue when reinstalled.

Good luck!

I have seen plenty of MDX here in NJ that runs with only fogs and no low beams.

Welcome to the forums.

I deleted your previous post since I also deleted the post it was referring to because all sales offers must be made in the Black Market Forum. Also, the person who posted hasn't visited the forum since February so there's a good chance he would never see your request.
