Remote Start

Hey Guys,
I am new to the forum, but I wanted to get your thinking on something that is causing me a lil hesiation from ordering a new RDX. I live in the NE, and well the winter is brutal especially this one, but my wife is wanting the remote start for the RDX. I am fine with the idea, but I dont like the way Acura has implemented it in the RDX, now I have had a viper, and I loved the way it integrated with my Accord, I didnt have to carry both fobs, just one and well it worked well in the Texas heat. (Just moved the NE).

My complaints like most of everyones complaints, is the fact that we must carry 2 fobs, and well how the system actually works when its been activated. The fact that when you open the door, the system cuts off is totally absurb. I was digging around the acura notice, how the MDX has a completely different system that allows you to carry one fob, and from what I can tell, doesnt cut the system off when the door is open....so my question is do you think that Acura will put that system in or maybe a comprable one in the RDX or should I be looking at another Viper for my future RDX????

Thanks for the responses

The MDX is usually the frontrunner for new Acura technology. Basically since the MDX just came out this year with all new features, I doubt they will change anything on the RDX until the 2016 facelift. Then you might be able to get the newer remote start 3 system they're using in the new MDX.

My dealer installed a separate remote start system, not Acura's accessory but is covered under warrantee. They programed my factory key fob to start the car so I dont have two fobs. The engine still cuts off when I enter though. Ask your dealer about it.

I went through the same problem with our 2014 tech ( i'm in NY)
Ended up calling 8 dealers to get the best price and went OEM ... couldn't be happier.
Is the 2 fobs a pain... sure BUT it works great, range is fine for me AND factory warranty.

You need to get out of your mind that its an auto start & essentially just a warmer for the car, it gets the car ready for you to enter it in the 10 or 20 minutes you run it and auto senses the perimeter temps and adjusts accordingly.
Is the push button and cutoff ideal... no BUT with the winter this year every morning i've entered a super warm truck.
