Thinking about buying a 2001 CL Type S
ADVICE PLEASE
Hey guys, I'm looking at a few different CLs out there, and I've done my research as always. I'm aware of the dreaded Tranny issue. (side note: I was looking at 2001-ish Accords and apparently the same issue is present-wonder if it's the same transmission)
Anyhow I am looking at one in particular that is in great physical shape, I'm just a little sketch with this Transmission thing. I've heard about them failing more than once even after a replacement.....
Here's the deal, this one has 255k on it, and the tranny WAS replaced at 197k. They're asking about $4000 for the car which matches up fairly well with KBB value.
I've gotten lots of good advice here in the past, especially when I had an old 1992 Integra that I loved and drove into the groud...lol.
I am a "older" college student trying to find a decently sweet looking ride. Ya know, gotta have SOMETHING to take the ladies around in :p I just got rid of an older late 90's model Ford that was just a "banger" for the time being and now I'm ready to move up a notch or so.
Should I even consider buying this car? Any concerns/issues that you would have if you're in the situation I am? I need the car to maybe last me 3 years. I probably would not put a whole hell of a lot of miles on it. I'd usually be driving it about 10 miles or so a day to a bus stop with the occasional "longer" commute style drive on treacherous Atlanta highways here and there.
Thanks in advance, you guys around here have always been a huge help to me

The trannies are unpredictable. But its high mileage. An Odyssey tranny swap will run about $2k.
Does the car come with any service history? The timing belt service should have been replaced twice now, the last coming at 210k miles.

If he had more info on the car, I may have still been interested, but it just had a gut feeling something wasn't right so I'm like "bleh" on this dude.
I''ll find something else. I think I'm just gonna wait until I have a little more $ to work with in the coming months. Thanks so much for trying to help!!!

NP. The '03 6MTs are dropping in price, so you might be able to pick one of them up.
