I still feel the 6-speeds should be offered a warranty too....like I posted in another thread...what discrimination! Anyways, I wonder what they meant by saying "some" '03 CL/TL's...I was also under the impression they fixed this problem on the '03s.

guys, just to send us the letters about the tranny, its going to cost Honda about 384,000 bucks!!! hahahahah (1.2 million letters times 32 cents a peice for postage....not to mention the cost of the paper and printing the letters....hahahahah) this letter alone will likely cost them over 400,000 bucks!! let alone the trannys they have to replace now

Honda is not too worried about that. They make millions if not billions more than that on all of their other products. Lawnmowers-yard machines, boats, atvs, motorcycles cars even the freakin robots in japan.

On the good side of this $hit, people who were worried about modding can NOW GO MODD CRAZY like my self. PHuck that, supercharger, headers, anything else that SUPPOSELY Phucks up the car will now be added to my baby. haha!! honda got screwed! :P

Don't be greedy guys, this is a tranny issue, and it make sense for them to extend the warranty on the tranny only.

They are only warrenting the cars that have had replacements, or have (or are having) problems.....

There has not been one problem with the 6-speed tranny... should there be one... I'm sure Acura will cover that as well... but for now there's no reason to even mention it.....

I think people are getting a bit greedy.

The original concern was for failing transmissions, not 'everything else' and now it's been addressed.

Greedy?

I had my Actulater go twice.
I had my Radio go once ( waiter 2 months for new one )
I had my roters resurfaced twice due to steering wheel pulsing when breaking hard.
I had my tranny go..

I dont think asking for a full warrenty is too much to ask for, this is a billion doller corp.

dad was telling a story about a guy (i don't know what model or honda or acura) I guess he was behind a slower car or truck and he went out to pass him(and he had one of these cars that being recalled) and he pulled out to pass him(this was a 2 lane highway) he got about 1/2 way around the guy and the tranny locked up and he went into a slide at 80 mph I guess the guy okay but it totalled the car

but you gotta gotta admit you guys got a good car other than the tranny and now you got backing from Honda on the tranny so your set

not everyone has those problems. the tranny issue was a serious one that had a higher than average incident rate. it is right for Honda to only cover the tranny in the extended warranty.

These are two separate issues, I'm sure if you go in for warranty work on your tranny and have a supercharger they will give you a hard time, no matter how long the warranty is extended for.

Just playing devil's advocate, because I would love to "go modd crazy", but can't they void the new warranty, just like they could void the old one, if you put on a bunch of mods that put extra stress on the tranny?

I am glad that they extended the warranty and will probably keep my car after it hits the 50K mile mark now that they did this, unless my finances improve, but I don't know about regaining any respect for them. They basically had to do this now that it was gaining the media's attention, otherwise, we'd still be srewed. And the fact remains, no matter what, we are still stuck with a POS tranny that poses a safety hazard until they come up with a fix and replace them all, which will probably never happen.

Danny25 and Rod - I am using Rondog's issue as a point for that. He was went to the dealership to get his car worked on and his transmission. The dealer gave him a load of BS because of his CAI. Now if I were to mod my car and they said this was a part of the problem BS! Honda had a problem with the trannys b4 modding. So, if i were to come into the dealership and my tranny went, there should be no discussion on me having to pay for the next one because i modded my car. Reread the post by rondog about his tranny and modds. I am not worried about HONDAs engines because for the most part they are bullet proof. I was worried about the tranny and dealers not servicing them because of modds. The mong(don't know the spelling) MOSS ACT or whatever you call it still applies here.

Wrong.

All models with the defective tranny. Which means that tranny was put in all those cars and it means all of them made with that tranny are getting it.

I knew you could be an idiot from reading your posts in the Racing Forum... but I didn't know you were illiterate too.... maybe my wording wasn't accurate enough for you.....

I wrote.... "They are only warranting the cars that have had replacements, or have (or are having) problems....."

I should have put the word "could" in front of have, but I didn't. Anyway, what I typed is basically what you typed and what the article said.... cars that had problems, are having problems, or could have problems. That would be the 1.2 million or so cars mentioned in the article now wouldn't it?

Sometimes I just think you like to hear yourself type

Best of all is the fact Honda is going to be reimbursing anyone who had to pay for a replacement transmission out of their own pocket. I know this is going to be great news to anyone out there who went through that. But I do love the extended warranty part because I know my transmission is covered for like another 5 years or 70,000 miles.

You can bet this would have never happened if not for the wide spread publicity of the Internet. I love it.

My service manager just the other day was giving me crap when I asked questions about it. This will shut her up. Pissed me off that she would not even acknowledge anything, just kept asking 'are you having a problem'. All I wanted to know is when they broke in the changes for the fix. She just wouldn't volunteer to find out for me. I finally asked her if she has no intention of asking the question, she finally said she would try.

Now I was asking dad if it was a quality issue that caused all these trannys to act up. he said no it was a poor design on the engineer's part.( i forget exactly what he said but it was something like this, something was grinding or rubbing which cause metal shaving to go down into the bottom of the tranny which got into the bearing(which if any you guys do anything mechianical you guys know it's a must to keep bearings clean and greased. then the shavings out get sucked up in the oil pump for the tranny and then it would plug it up and no oil(or very little) could get into the pump and it would lock up the tranny.

great.. now at 41Kmiles I have fears about my tranny starting to shake when shifting or lifting up on gas....

I already have a FREE Acura 6/years 100,000 miles Extended Power train warrenty. Acura is making it a better deal for 7-years/100kmiles on the tranny only. now if I hit 90 kmiles and the tranny dies... The newer tranny should hold up for an extra 100,000 kmiles.

I am all set now.

one question that as YET to be answered is this....

ARE THE REPLACEMENT TRANNYS WE ARE GETTING ANY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL ONES THAT BREAK OR ARE THE REPLACEMENT TRANNYS JUST GOING TO BREAK AS WELL

is this transferrable? I.E. does it follow the car like Chrysler's powertrain warranty, or just the original owner like Hyundai's retarded warranty?

Since the problem has been identified, I'm going assume they've fixed it as well...

Let's hope that's the case...

Your problems have been fixed under warranty, Acura has extended the warranty on the tranny just to be sure. If you want an extended warranty, go buy one.
