01 CLS Shift delay from reverse to drive

I got a 01 CLS w/ on its second tranny, replaced at 55K. I got 113K on the car currently. Had a 12 qt flush done by Acura back at 95K. Tranny has been working well, but recently, when I first start it in the morning, back out of my driveway and shift into drive from reverse, there is a noticeable delay (1 second or so) longer than what I've been used to (bought it new). Subsequent attempts from reverse to drive have no delay. The delay seems to get longer as the temperature drops. Its about 17F out tonight, and it might have been as long as a 1.5 - 2 seconds when I backed out of my parking spot at work (sat all day). Normal shifting seems to be fine, alittle harder shifting when its cold, before things warm up, which is expected. I have no shift indicator lights coming on, fluid smells ok (I've burned up my share of trannys).

Just wondering if anyone has run across this type of problem. I'm hoping that this isn't the first sign of a failing trans.

A follow up on my shift delay, just had the VSA and Check Engine light come on this morning, they should have put a "$$$" indicator light in the dash instead. Took it to the local acura dealer, they're telling me its the 2-3 shift pack codes. $6300 for a new tranny. Looks like I'll be joining the third tranny club.

Welcome to the club. May I direct you to my slightly lengthy post on how to preserve your new one. It sounds like you've done a lot of full throttle upshifts and downshifts between 2 and 3, which is exactly what you should avoid in our auto tranny's. https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...75&postcount=6

either sell the car, cut your losses, or put a 3G TL/7G accord trans in.. and not from the dealership. I had mine done including the trans for $1800.

note to OP

change that fluid every 15K and use the NEW Honda fluid. I had my first transmission replaced at 71K and the second one has 60K on it. It runs fine as I have changed the fluid with every other oil change. Do that with your replacement trans as well and use one from an 06 TL
