wheel and suspension combo ideas

So im contemplating on getting wheels for my cls but I want to do an suspension upgrade with it as well. From all the post I've been reading, it seems like the tein super streets are the go to for suspension but im lost on wheels. Ideally, I want to go with an aggressive look with some bronze wheels since the car is black. I guess the question im asking is what is the ideal offset, rim size, and width that wont cause issues with suspension. Its a different world coming from a nissan 240sx to a cl in regards to mods.

How low are you looking to go? tucking tire? even? few finger gaps?

the oem 3rd gen TL rims which are 8" wide and +45 offset would likely rub a little in the rear with no fender rolling - that's with a proper tire size. Any more aggressive then that would require going down a tire size and some camber.

i like the look of 18s on this car. I've had 19s and they were nice looking but i enjoy the meatier tire now with 18s.

^ What gnuts said. What are you looking for in your suspension? Do you have a budget? Answering these questions can help us narrow down a choice. We have some options available on our website including Tein Street Basis and Street Advance coilovers, or just lowering springs if that would fit your budget better.

I kinda like how low the tein super streets sit. Never had the chance to feel how they handle but it seems everyone seems to love them. I had the chance to run with apex'I N1 coilovers before but that was a different car. The thing is, im in colorado and you get all four seasons in one day. Wheels are the next thing to go on after the suspension which I wanna say my budget on that is around $750 for coilovers. Wheels I want to go for would have to be finger gap. Don't like the look of all the spacing in between.

Any coilover will make your car sit the way you want it to. Tein advance are more than 750 unless you buy used. Tein basis are more in that range but have no dampening adjustment.

I couldn't be more happy with my Eibach Pro Series Plus Kit.

Perfect stance on my automatic CLS.

I'm running Eibach Springs and Koni Yellows on my manual CLS. Love that as well.

Only ever rub if i have people in the backseat. So never.

Not bad on the wheels, I kinda like those. The gameplan is to do a repaint on my cls of black and go with some gold or bronze wheels. I figure the next move between tranny flush and timing belt is to buy the suspension and by spring wheels.

I went thru THM for my Eibach kit. They ship free & fast. Usually the least expensive place to go through.

We are actually having great sale pricing on TEIN right now, you can pick up a set of the Street Advance for the second gen CL for $621 on our website not including shipping.

We've found that the Tein offering for this chassis have been good sometimes a bit limiting. They've not always gone as low as people want them to, and the weight of the car seems like a bit much for the dampers and the springs.

The YA4/UA5 Tein kits were actually designed on the 1998-02 Accord chassis, which is a bit lighter in many cases than these cars. The Tein kits work great, but what we have found is there are limited to the handling prowess and drop range.

Still it will be hard to find something as reliable in that price range.

The Eibach springs will lower you down about 1.5-2 inches in the front and 1.5-1.7 inches in the rear.
