Good luck man I think there are about a hundred people looking for that same part. Thank god I have an extended warranty both of mine are starting to go. Taking it in tomorrow to have the dealership replace them.

Well fuck me the extended warranty apparently only covers drive train, what a fuggin crock. Well I am seriously thinking about a conversion from stock to aftermarket. Running into a problem with finding a good solid write up or info. From the look of after market compared to stock it seems to be failry simple. Also the aftermarket/universal ballasts are about half the price of the stockers.

Oh wow sorry to hear that bro. I fixed mine and ended up installing the 8000k bulbs. Looks really good. I say honestly the stock inverter unit is costly but it was well worth it. Just plug and play!!

WOW. This seems to be a common problem for the 03 CL. Mine has gone out to and the dealer wants $534.06 + Can you get an aftermarket??

if you want to stay stock go to www.acuraautomotiveparts.org its awsome and out of arizona i think that a ballast on there is just over 320 which isnt bad for most places otherwise I would try just posting a thread in the black market bumping it every other day, that worked for me and got me a new one for 70 bucks or other wise I would go after market and the site i recommend for that is www.omnixautosports.com its a great site for the conversion kit and bulbs.

Well ended up going through the dealer. Sucked to pay that much but was nice that I got a 2009 MDX on loan for 2 days while they fixed it. OH and Nersh7 - Good look on the website for parts too!

Wow I'm surprised the dealer kept your car for 2 days for a 1 hour job but from the sounds of it you enjoyed the time.

I had the same problem about a year ago and I went to Car-part.com and there were many options for ballasts and I ended up buying one for $125.00 and fixing my problem. There are also ballast's for sale in the BM from time to time I think there are 2 for sale now.

I just replaced my 2001 Cl Type S with an aftermarket ballast after looking at the poorly designed stock one. Left Low beam was out, thought it was the bulb. Check the fuse 1st if the fuse is bad most likely the ballast went bad. Cost on the ballast 50.00 bucks, cut a couple of pieces of aluminum and made a quick mount used the stock connectors just spliced in the ballast connector and wal-la... Light once more. The biggest pain was removing the front bumper for access. after nine years the plastic clips become brittle so pick up a couple before you start removing things. If you have questions about HID lights let me know I've been playing with them for over 3 years and can shed some light (PUN INTENDED) on the lights available and what you can expect. (Hint) 4300-6000K are the by far the best for vision and reflection on and off road. 8000k do not reflect very well on anything other than concrete. 4300k is the ideal HID color temperature to produce the maximum amount of light, lumens, hence the reason while all OEM manufacturers equip their vehicles with these types of bulbs.
